Krzys' 2002 Nighthawk Black Track EP3 Type R - Dave

Right, so a couple of months ago I was getting moaned at for tracking Bob and people were worried about me wrecking or crashing the car.

So my brother and I bought another EP3 to use purely as a track slut.

Pictures from the sale advert:

This was an M2 unsilenced cat-back, this came straight off before we even fetched the car! Far too loud and no good for noise restrictions!

The day we picked it up.

First comedy fault, not worth dealing with!

Show plate for on the track!

So we got the car back to my brothers house where it has sat for a couple of months doing sod all. Until last weekend when we got all the servicing items together plus a sump baffle to drop in to get the car ready for it's first track day, which is in December!

Fluids, filters, sump baffle, plugs etc etc

Bob was supervising.

Bob's old airbox and S2000 filter.

Not bad for 137k, chain is tight, cams look decent!

These looked original!

So did the fuel filter, not good!

Back together and all is well!

What we did find was that we need new front brakes before the session rather than after, so I'm hopefully ordering a big brake kit today, we have fluid ready to change and braided lines on the way too! Radiator looks like it's ready for the scrap too so going to get one ordered ready!

Track day is on Sunday December 13th at Donington Park should anyone fancy watching us kill or bin the car!

Nice work!

Are you going to do the opposite of you're other ep3 then and strip the sound deadening and interior out?

A big box arrived yesterday! I won't torment you with just a box photo but should be fitting it on Saturday!

Stoptech kit is fitted! Along with a brand new set of Uniroyal tyres, which are proving to be really good this time of year! Bedded the brakes in using the method that Stoptech recommends and my god they are bloody good! Made me feel sick by the end of it

There's a couple more jobs to do before the first track day but the big jobs are now done!

Small update, dry tyres are sorted and a set of wheels painted so they look a bit less **** lol! Also some stickers have gone on!

First track day in this on Sunday at Donington Park, should be good fun!

So yesterday, in the cold and wet myself and my older brother took Dave out on his first of hopefully many track days!

On Saturday we did some final prep work which included mounting the tow straps, getting the dry tyres ready (you never know!) fitting the Spoon N1 and B-Pipe and adding stickers because my brother couldn't help himself haha!

The track day was a sessioned day with six 20 minute sessions, three each basically! But due to the French, a Clio had expired on track closing it for an hour so all of the final sessions were cancelled, so five out of six wasn't bad! The car did 98 miles to almost a full tank of fuel which was really good! The Uniroyal tyres gripped brilliantly to say it was soaking wet out! The brakes were simply epic! We could out-brake pretty much everyone else in our group!

Our hit list of cars includes MX5's, Clio's, M3’s, Caterham’s, Fiesta ST’s, an Astra VXR, Focus RS, Jaguar XFR, Jaguar XKR and the one I’m most proud of, a Porsche 911 GT3 which I lapped twice in each of the two sessions I actually did!

Now for pictures and videos!

More will come once I've sorted the professional pictures and our GoPro footage out!

And videos!

First set Stef was driving, second set I was driving!

How did you find the N1 on track? When I done spa it was absolutely mental and you could hear it fizzing, popping & banging all over the gaff.

Was about 25 degrees though that day.

Loud! I was so surprised we didn't get called up on the noise as there was a 98db limit! We had taken a standard cat-back with us just in case! lol

You were lucky. I think that with my DC header I was about 103 but think that would gone up when warm on track.

Donington is a drive by limit and the sensors aren't right next to the track. There's no static testing.

Looks good nice work on taking on more powerful cars! wet track for the first run too thats annoying
