N77's gone Supercharged........

So I had to wait in today for a long awaited delivery, so as I have not had chance, I thought I would fit my Airtec intercooler.

So first off, I removed the original:-

Pretty straight forward to do, once the cover is removed, and all the brackets removed as well.

Size difference is quite suprising, the standard cooler looks bigger than it is I think, because of the cover...

IMAG2302_zpsrkvbuzcj.jpg

After a bit of a clean up of the brackets, I thought they would look like an eye sore with the new snoot boots, and tried to clean up a bit underneath as well, I fitted the Airtec in place, with a bit of adjustment of the brackets and a clamp that was in the way, its fitted perfectly...

Removed the original air divertor from the under bonnet and checked on closing, but everything seems okay, you can just see the AirTec logo through the bonnet scoop :)

I have checked for leaks and all seems okay, you can hear a nice suck when reving, so is definitely working as it should. I will feel a lot better too and not worried as much when putting my foot down in this weather.

After a brief moment after finishing it, the parcel I was waiting for then arrived, it was a welcome sight ;)

Hooraahhhh!!!!

So I could not wait, it felt like Christmas and I continued to open it up to have a look...

On first impressions, if these are budget coilovers then I would love to see the quality of more expensive ones, as these seem top notch to me. However the proof is how they work, so that will follow once they are fitted :)

Don't Meister build coilovers for other companies for them to just get rebranded? Even if that's not them, Meister get good reviews.

So after finally getting my coilers, I couldn't wait to get them fitted.

I got a few quotes from various places and availability, one was fully booked, another place could of got me in Wednesday but had made plans to go to cinema with some friends from work, and also the quote I thought was a little expensive, I also thought about doing it myself, not to save money but I like to do things myself, and I have never messed with suspension before. Had a look at some YouTube and instructions on the site, but decided against it. I then got in touch with someone I have known about for a few years in my Civic Type R circles, never been to him before but I hear nothing but praise, so contacted a gentleman by the name of Stevie from Grinspeed and arranged for him to fit and set them up....

I arrived first thing for them to get started, in fact I beat them lol

IMAG2334_zpso8yq7h58.jpg

Started on the rears first due to making the holes for the adjuster to allow them to come through the body..

IMAG2336_zps7xpu93vu.jpg

Which also meant a strip of the interior..

IMAG2345_zpsuyaxcu6c.jpg

All fitted on rear and front, also coated with the ARC :D

IMAG2339_zpst0yywvj4.jpg

IMAG2341_zpszf9wraog.jpg

It was then time for the set up, my camber was a serious amount before, as I was suffering inner wear quite bad on the rear, especially passenger side, so this was all set evenly using the set up they have....

IMAG2344_zpsyrrfedcs.jpg

All done, and then I did a test drive to make sure I was happy, it was a little wet and the tyres are not great in the wet, but the ride I have to say was surprisingly pleasant and not as I was expecting, I was worrying it was going to be too uncomfortable and harsh, but quite the opposite. It certainly is an improvement over the standard stuff, it feels more sure footed so to speak over bumps, checked for knocks as well and all okay.

On the drive back it was really sweet, no pulling slightly like I had before but this would of been how the camber was and not correct, over speed bumps not an issue either, again not harsh but sure footed. I can't wait now to give it a proper test, and also get some new rubber too...

I am not going for lows, so didn't want it slammed to the floor, so my request was 15-20mm, he set it to 15mm as he said it would come down a little after settling and I think its just right. It has got rid of the huge gap but is not un-driveable either....

Looks good bud. Stevie is a top lad, I used to drive all the way up from Bucks to get him to work on my car. I'd never hesitate to recommend him.

That looks spot on in a function > form way

So the Mini has gone, it was a great bit of fun but needed something that was a bit more comfortable as the daily and the fuel using this for long distance as crazy.

Also due to the clutch being as hard as they are in these, it was starting to cause me pains in my left leg when using the clutch a lot, especially in traffic.

I kept borrowing my Dad's and this one came up at the right price, auto as well this time, I want to make driving the Civic that much more special lol

So picked up this today, it's the new Renault Clio 1.5dci Dynamique S, pre reg so hence 66 plate but brand new otherwise. Used it today and back to do some work for my friend and already getting 50mpg.

This will probably be the first and last post about the car, I have got some sill protectors, boot protector and some wind deflectors coming but that will be it, probably get some roof bars but that's all that will be done I think.

I did look at DTUK for one of their boxes but will see how it goes, think it puts on about 24 bhp and 50 nm. May look at it in the future.

Might look at some spacers too as the wheels need to come out a bit more I feel, reg will be changed once I get the V5 back.

I saw the Diamond covers on eBay as it had a little too much chrome, so decided to get them, don't look too bad once fitted.

The sill protectors I got from Renault as I got my dad a set for his, especially on the white, it breaks it up and protects them a bit.

Also got my plate swapped over today so put them on as well.

Got a boot liner from Renault as well and also some wind deflectors but as it was going cold, I am going to wait before fitting them, as they stick on as aposed clipping on.

Still looking at some wheel spacers, have found a set that will fit and 20mm so want to check measurements properly first before ordering.

They are pretty good for £22.50 and prefer them to the Heko ones.

My dad has the Heko ones and they block a bit of your view for the wing mirrors so much prefer these.

So I decided to go for some spacers, went for some Direnza 20mm spacers, could of gone a little more on the front but decided to get them the same all around.
