Nidge's Cosmic EP3

Not a planned purchase but due to noticing a screw in one of my rear tyres I ordered a pair of new ones.

As it happens when the guy changed the tyres he noticed that the other rear tyre also had a screw in it!

Anyway I use it as my daily so went for Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 2's:

Well regardless if the tyres are any good I won't be using that mobile tyre company again. Just gave them both barrels in an email after I realised they did this to my wheels:

Absolutely gutted. 3 of the 4 wheels were replaced less than 3 years ago prior to my ownership at a cost of nearly £900 and I have kept them really clean since I got the car a year ago.

 That's horrific. When I saw that image I had the same physical reaction as fingernails on a blackboard.

That's ridiculous, looks like they've just shoved a screwdriver beneath to remove the weights. Surely a bit of dental floss or similar would be the weapon of choice for a professional tyre fitter!? Gutted for you mate.

The company have email me back and agreed that the damage done to my wheels was excessive.

They have agreed to compensate for the damage so I need to get back to them. I have already got a verbal quote from a wheel refurbishment company so I am just hoping that the tyre fitting company agree to cover the whole cost of the 2 wheels being refurbished.

Any update? I'd be raging!

This is why I only use 2 places for my tyres.

Yes I need to find someone I can trust now for future tyre changes.

In terms of update I'm waiting on an email quote from the wheel specialist. Once I get this I will be forwarding it on to the tyre people and see what they say.

Damaged wheel update:

After being let down by the wheel specialist who still haven't given me a written quote I have found another company that can refurbish both damaged wheels for £150 and the tyre company have agreed to cover the costs.

While I'm at it I'm going to replace the front tyres as well so I have new matching Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 2's all round.

Will get some pictures up once it's done.

Glad it's getting sorted!

I had some wheels done by 'The wheel specialist' and the powder coating started to chip after only a short space of time.

Powder coating is generally gash unless it's done properly, which more often than not it isn't because it's cost inhibitive versus regular painting.

That's why I'm irritated because the wheels I have were purchased new only 3 years ago and I'm going to end with a sub standard finish.

However I suppose I'm lucky that they have agreed the repair.

You shouldn't notice any difference at all if the place are any good.

My Alfa wheels were powder coated and look fantastic. Did cost £380 mind, so you get what you pay for.

The company I'm using charge £150 for 2 wheels so I'm hoping they will do a good job.

The only good thing to come out of it is that I've used it as an excuse to get 4 decent tyres on the car. I know Chris was highly unimpressed with my 'prestivo' tyres in a previous post ;)
