It might well have been, one part of the tailgate does feel a bit loose compared to the other side. I don’t think I would even had noticed if it weren’t for the damage to the paintwork. Are there any threads or vids on here about taking the boot apart? Maybe it’s something simple.

Thanks for the response, yeah the rubber stops were there, I gave them a twist but no obvious difference that I could tell. I took some more pictures I’m wondering if it’s been taken apart and not out back together properly again, as the body panel doesn’t really line up with the lights...
