Hello, thanks for your input . I’ve just tried with the throttle open and it’s come back with the exact same readings and they all hold their pressure. Not sure where that leaves me now. It’s looking like a dodgy engine.

Sorry does that mean Wide open throttle ? I actually haven’t tried it with the throttle held open . Could that be the reason for the different readings ?

Yes the engine turned over and gave them readings on the compression test with the spark plugs out .

I have recently bought an engine from a car breakers. I have just done a compression test by turning the starter motor over by putting a power pack on it . The readings show ( left to right) 10bar. 6bar 7bar 7bar . Is there something I’m doing wrong? I know they’re supposed to be all the same...

Did you find out what the noise was ? I’ve got the exact same noise coming from my engine and when I’ve drained the oil lots of little metals shards were present on the drain plug .
