The moment you start talking about investment and going up in value, you risk ending up with a car you can't use. The ones that will properly appreciate are the low mileage garage queens, for which sellers will be expecting buyers to pay through the nose. Then you don't drive it for fear of...

That'll be the giveaway, genuine Volks will feel featherweight. They probably won't fit. While the FK8 has the same PCD as the BMW, the offset is far more extreme.

They're G25s, but it's not all good news I'm afraid. There's some visually identical knock offs doing the rounds, so you'll need to get them off and inspect them closely to see if they're the real deal or not. High offset wheels mean the inside edge is very much unsupported, and low profile tyres mean there's nothing to cushion the impact. It'll take far less of a hit than you think to do that sort of damage, just need to catch an edge right (or wrong).

    Fwd traction in 300bhp cars

I'm not sure how comparable the DTM car would be to anything you'd find on the road. The engine faced north-south, it had active pushrod suspension and most of the front end replaced with bespoke carbon structure. By the end of the series in 96 they were arguably more advanced than F1 cars.
