Cleaning Combinations , polish, wax,Sealant and reccomendations

looking to give the car a good polish/waxing for the summer :) I have some Auto Finesse tripple as an all in one type Polish/wax, does a really nice job and easy to work with. but looking to seal it in for a longer lasting shine. Could i use the Tipple followed by Collinite 476, read good reviews about this product.

Ive recently got a 3m Clay bar, so here was the steps i was going to use

  1. Wash the car with Meguiars Nxt gen Shampoo.
  2. Rinse and dry the car fully
  3. Clay the car ( 3m bar ) Shampoo and water in a spray bottle to lubricate the bar
  4. Rinse or wash it all off
  5. go over the car with the auto-finesse tripple and buff off.
  6. Then go over again with the 476 to wax/seal it
  7. Then use Meguiars tyre gel on the rubbers and platics or Wurth rubber care / poorboys trim restore

if anyone has any recomendations of something else to use for a polish or a wax/Sealant then please let me no, cars cosmic grey

I love Meguiars products but that's my preference.

When you clay bar the car use a quick detailer as lubrication then wipe off with a microfiber cloth (do a little bit at a time) there will be no need to wash or rinse it off then.

After clay barring use a polish then a wax to seal.

The method I use is:

1. Wash using a 2 bucket method
2. Rinse and dry car
3. Clay bar
4. Use a compound polish
5. Second polish with a 'normal polish' for depth and clarity
6. Wax the car

Thanks for the tip , will get some quick detailer, so the finesse polish and 476 wax should be fine

I've never used them products but I just had a quick look and they will be fine.

If you get a quick detailer for the clay bar I use this:

http://www.meguiars.co.uk/shop/quik-detailer-473ml

It is what Meguiars recommend and is found in the clay kit they do. Search around you may find it cheaper, but if you need it asap Halfords will probably have it.

Standard wash fare:

Autoglym wheel cleaner
Autoglym wash
Autoglym wheel cleaner
Autoglym wash
Towel off with Megs waffle towel
Poorboys BH or WD
3M Marine Wax
Autoglym Tyre dressing
Autoglym Rubber and Vinyl care on exterior plastics.
3M Wax on wheels for a treat
Autosol on exhaust tips.
Any old window cleaner on the glass.

Megs mitt, waffle cloth, plenty of microfibre cloths etc Oh and brush and sponge for wheels.

Maybe a beer or two during.

Will have a look at some of them products , that looks like a days worth of work, I also use the autosol on the exhaust , works a treat. Need to invest in some good micro fibres

just order the Poorboys Black Hole glaze stuff, Collinite Super Double Coat Wax 476S , megs Quick Detailer, Poorboy's Deluxe Mega Towel and some applicators. Should keep me going and make the car look nice and protected.

I didn't include wheel cleaner, tyre and trim dressing, glass, engine or interior in my method but yeah you can spend some money on cleaning equipment well worth it though.

Have fun .

got some megs Tyre dressing and some bilberry wheel cleaner so should be ok on that side of it. and yea it can become a long day lol. Worth it *** , thanks for the help

Can any of you guys help out. I'm after a good wax sealant. I will be using auto glym shampoo and resin polish and I need a spray sort of wax that I can spray on and wipe off and leave paint work protected any suggestions on good sealant cheers haz.

The spray waxes are really best for topping up your wax protection.

If you want to stick with Autoglym they do a HD wax.

Or you could try a different brand. I use Meguiars Ultimate Liquid Wax, but Meguiars Tech Wax 2.0 is also very good.

Thanks for getting back mate I have seen a few of meguiars but there all quick wax. I don't understand do they mean by quick as in spray and wipe off or just wash and spray on for quick shine gloss?? Could you put up a link of a good one that I can seal my paint work with thanks.

Thanks mate I think the second one is ok so after wash and dry then start with resin polish for prep then seal it with the paste is that right?

No probs, the quick wax comes in a spray bottle, you wash and dry car first, then spray on and wipe off with a microfiber cloth.

The wax I use now is: http://www.meguiars.co.uk/shop/ultimate-wax
This is also good: http://www.meguiars.co.uk/shop/nxt-tech-wax-2-0

You can get both in a paste too if you would rather use a paste than a liquid wax, both you will be able to pick up at Halfords if it's easier than ordering on line.

Also is this the same wax on the second link http://m.ebay.co.uk/itm/231162556863?nav=SEARCH

I'm thinking bout this one http://m.ebay.co.uk/itm/251473523772?nav=SEARCH

Yeah, wash and dry car, polish with the resin then wax the car to protect and seal. For best results you could clay bar the car after washing and drying and before polishing but what your going for will be fine.

Up to you which wax to use both links are fine and both are good products.

Personally I use the liquid rather than the paste but they both do the same thing its just down to preference which you find better to use.
