Clutch spring rattle?

One last thing - Honda let me test drive another type r and it had exactly the same noise.

I've read MANY MANY threads now about this noise it's good to know that alot of them make the same noise but I'm not happy to just "accept it" as so many people have - I'm pretty peeved off about it to be honest.

Did the garage definately replace your bearings? as I'm currently in communication with a specialist / enthusiast who has fixed the issue in the past by replacing the Input Shaft Bearing.

It's a difficult decision for me to make - spend the money on labour and parts for the gearbox input bearing to be replaced and it *might* fix it

Another option is a performance exhaust to mask the sound but if I'm honest I'm past the days of loud exhausts.

what to do, what to do?!? :(

Well, i had them replaced under warranty...

Then the garage was doing some other work so I paid them to change them again. Don't ask, I should have burnt the money.
The garage didn't put the gearbox back together too well, introducing a new noise. So they took it apart again and I attended to see the new bearings with a Jan 2011 stamp on them. All fixed now though, original noise still there.

Does the video match your noise?

I'm at work atm so can't view the video. I'm pretty sure it will be the same. I'm actually just arranging mine to go in for repair via e-mail I'm very suprised no one has found a definative fix for this by now though, I have found threads on it that date as far back as 2008.

It's booked in to have the both the top and bottom main shaft bearings replaced and the top/bottom counter shaft bearings replaced in a couple of weeks. I just have everything crossed that it sorts it out!

if you a going to replace all of the bearings you stated you will be aswell fitting an LSD (limited, slip, differential) to the box at the same time, i know i would.

the JDM LSD is supposed to be pretty good and will improve grip and handling.

someone on here described the noise alot of us are experiencing as like getting to the end of a milkshake with a straw which is a very good description it could also be decribed as a noisy computer hard drive.

Hi, did you get bearings replaced? I think it's the same problem I'm having it's really annoying I tend to hear it more when I'm driving slow but the noise is never there when I'm sitting still

Nope decided I wasn't going to gamble almost £500 on something that *might* fix it. Will keep a close eye out on the forums hopefully someone will find out *Exactly* what is causing the noise that's bugging the sh*t out of us all.

Here is a thought. Honda did a mini recall to remove the triple cone syncros on 1st and 2nd. If there is extra space now, could that cause a rattle/grind noise?

Mine is the standard exhaust, which is probably a reason why I hear it.

Someone mentioned the exhaust, have you ever had it changed? And is it a sports exhaust or just standard?
I have a standard exhaust. Many things have been mentioned by alot of people but none of them seem to fix the issue. FOr example people have changed bearings / clutches / gearboxes and the noise remains.

I've only had my car for 2 weeks and it's really ruining my drive knowing that the sound is there.

im having this issue too, mine can be heard at idle too if i rev you can hear the rattle before the revs come down, only had the car since friday so ill be getting a new clutch under warranty, hope it sort is its a horrible noise when driving, and when i put my foot down as it goes up around 3000-4000 revs it sounds even worse.

I have same issue in my car. Bought brand new JDM tranny and few weeks after that I noticed noise again. First they changed ISB for guarantee, which didn't fix the noise. After that got brand new tranny again and noise was coming still out. Trying to just ignore it.
