Copper sump plug?

First of all, hi all and apologies, I'm more of a background lurker on this forum.

Went to pick up a sump plug washer from my normal motor shop today and all they could offer me was a copper washer. It looked more like a ring, as in the sort you put on your finger as it was cylindrical too.

They assured me it was fine, but would you guys say it's ok for my ep3? I only ask as I've never seen one like this before and don't know if they tend to leak etc.

I've pretty much always had copper washers on sump plugs. EP3 was the only car that didn't have one.

It's anything but steel basically, so yes, it'll be fine.

Its a copper crush washer mate, its sorta hollow in the middle and when you tighten the plug onto the sump, the washer crushes to the desired shape .

As mentioned, I think it's so it makes a good seal but it's not reusable.
