My GF's Polo is having problems;
Its a H reg. 1.0L Mk2 Volkswagon Polo.
Its a very basic car, ie; No Servo assisted brakes, no electric anything, carb fed without injection or an ECU etc...very much a base model car.
The problem is, when slowing down, such as approaching a roundabout of turning into a junction, the car is cutting out and needs restarting on the key (which it does fine 1st time). Also just before it cuts out, the battery light comes on, and then once restarted it disappears again. It happens with both slowing down using the brakes, and slowing down with gears and engine speed.
Work that has already been carried out to try and rectify this;
- Spark plugs and HT leads replaced
- Distributor arm, points etc... replaced/cleaned
- Carburetta stripped down, cleaned and the jets cleaned.
- Fuel filter has been replaced.
- Idle has been reset/adjusted
So far, none of the above has solved the problem, so TRO people, what suggestions do you have??
