Rear tyre wear

Just been to Honda to check my rear end - oh err  It was making a rumbling noise from the rear after I had some new re040s fitted tot he front.

The rear tyres have worn on the inner edges causing road noise above 40mph. The dealer suggested having the alignment done every 12 months to avoid this but I am not convinced the rear suspension set up is much improved with the facelifts. He also mentioned the rear JDM arb and tie-bar may have affected the geometry. This is after 18k of wear and the car is 14 months old.

The options are spend 55 quid and get the suspension set-up at the dealership - hoping the exisiting tyres will be okay for another 10k and then get one of the following done... or

Get a fast road set-up and some new boots

Get an adjustable rear camber arm, fast road set-up and new tyres

What do you think

18,000 miles isn't bad for a set of rears IMO but i'd take it to a specialist to get it looked at and have it set-up properly if it were me.

I have the carbing bar and have almost hit 25k (including 2 track days) and I have plenty of tread left.

Bumping up kerbs and falling down pot holes can alter the cars geometry. So it is advisable to get it checked regular.

I imagine if the dealer re sets the geometry for you , you could find it is still out as the Honda tolerances for the geo set up are quite vast.

If you can afford it go for the camber products and a fast road set up.

Totally transforms the CTR:woot:

I agree on what you are saying. I drive (predominently) on the smoothest and straightest A road in Lincolnshire to get to work. My fronts last 17k (actually they could do another 2k but I wanted to be ready for winter), completely even wear and trackign is still perfect.

Money is tight due to getting married in 4 months but I may have to bite the bullet and get fast road, adjustable rears and new boots.

Bit hacked off as my rears on my preface lasted 40k and the my facelft has a revised rear end - yeah right!

Being laser checked at Honda as I type so I will update when I have some news;)

Thanks for your input too - really appreciate it :D
