Semi synth

I keep in touch with the guy that bought my DC2, and he has switched oil to semi synth from fully synth and it's give from using a fair amount to next to nothing.

I was always under the impression that fully synth is the best option?

Semi is fine as long as you reduce the service intervals.

It would probably be caused by the component makeup of the oil he switched too. That said he may get the same result using a different fully synthetic.

My ATR used a little oil with whatever was in it when I bought it (Honda main dealer serviced) - but when I changed it I put Shell Helix 10/40 Fully Synthetic and now it uses none at all. So I agree its probably more down to the type of oil rather than the synthetic properties.
