FN2 Recaro seats sizes..?

Can you get different sized seats or are they the same size. Im just having a few probs with the hugging around my waist. It feels very tight, will they give or can you get a wider size.

You can get aftermaket seats but you sometimes lose functionality like tilt and slide, depends on the seat and your budget. You'll have to find a way of by-passing the airbag detection, usually with a resistor across the plug, I'm sure there is a guide on here somewhere.

When lockdown is over go to a proper aftermarket specialist and try a few for fit.

The seats won't give any, they're designed to hold you in place during cornering.

Great no give, the seat has irritated my left side and set off my sciatica. Thats why I am asking, dont want to sell the car on. Iv only just bloody bought it and I love it. When I first sat in the car I thought they was abit tight around the waste, restrictif. But thought it would be fine. Im hoping when I get a little better it will just be a one off.

Cheeky I know, but a little weight loss perhaps?
I have similar problem with the bolster irritating my right thigh muscle and causing a spasm so I know what you mean.
It started after I began doing much more walking and my muscles grew a bit.

Cheeky it is my friend, but unfortunatly weight loss wont help on this one lol. I think my body not used to being held in so snug and its just irritated my left side. Hopefully it wont happen again when Im better. Im in some pain right now with sciatica. So im having to use my bed pillow behind my whole back just to stop being sucked in to the seat. Its helping to a point at the moment...thanks for your concern on my weight ***...

does it have to be recaro seats?, if you have a problem fitting in them cant you look at other seat options which will give you more width?

No worries, my wife tells me I have the same problem.
We use a cushion when she sits in the FN2 because the seat is wrong shape for her back.

It could just be a matter of perseverance and finding a permanent right pillow/cushion to just lift you clear as you have done

You could try the drivers seat from a TypeS. They are not a bucket seat, as a 3 door car it will fold like the FN2 but will not hold you as well in "enthusiastic" driving mode. Keep the original for future when you sell.

Is the seat a Direct replacement for the runners underneath. Yes I'm going to try different things. I can remember my back playing up before when my other car was of the road for 2 weeks. Then when I got my car back on the road again, my back started to play up. I think it could just come down to the seating and my back getting used to a totally different position and feel. I could just fit my armchair from home and colour it in red and black...think I could get away with it

These seats and the runners are all one piece/integrated with the OEM seats I believe so your choice would be to buy a seat rail for £120ish plus a recliner bucket that you feel fits you better from about £250 upwards (multiply both costs x 2 if you're looking to keep things matched or as Wilmo suggested a more cost effective solution may be the seats from another non type R 8th Gen. Might even get leather!!

If you were looking to enhance the car I'd have suggested the former option as lower seat rails would address one of the common complaints about the seating position being a bit high and you'd save a fair few KGs too but with back troubles a lower seat position probably isn't something you'd want to entertain.

If you do look at changing seats I'd obviously look after the standard ones as they'll need to go back in for resale or you could struggle to find a buyer.

This back issue from an old injury? If not, perhaps see a chiropractor? My other half used to regularly suffer with sciatica and 4 or 5 of those sessions sorted her out. Amazing really.

It's sounding less like you don't fit the seats and more about the pressure points in your back.

Whatever the case, back pain is miserable as hell so hope you get to a solution that still involves you enjoying ownership :smt023

FD2 owners of the forum might know - are the seats in the FN and FD similar shape/size?

I fitted a Recaro Sport in my FD as the standard seat was too narrow...funnily enough it's still kicking around the workshop as I never got round to selling it.

Yes, they're similar. One is a tighter fit but I can't remember which.
Obviously the fd2 seats don't have airbags though.

Maybe a Recaro out of an Accord type-r would suit your needs OP? They're still supportive for a sporty car but not as deep or snug.

The FD2 seats are more snug.

Been out in the car today without the cushion. The side seats supports definatley irritate my back. Gutted, going to look at some kind of back support that lifts me just out of the way of the side supports a bit. When I was using my bed pillow it was tolerable. Fingers crossed I will find some kind of support or a seat from the type s. Is the seat a direct fitment..?

The FN2 seats have air bags, if the TypeS does as well then the connections ought to be the same???

In fact i can see the air bag label on that ebay set.

For that money it's worth a punt, you can always sell them on if they don't work.

This is the underneath of the seat, can you tell from the pic for the electrical fixtures
