Hello, i'm just looking for abit of help. Im 21 with 3 years no claims, driving for 4 years. Ive had many cars (insured with the same company admiral) first car at 17 being a bmw 320i, then a clio 2.0, cooper s works, e91 325d estate... And then my car now 2003 ep3 type r. All insured with the same company.
My car is a 2003 ep3 with spoon exhaust and eibach springs. Last year i paid £1300 with all my mods declaired and with one added driver, my mother.
In June i had an incident where a full size mercedes sprinter van went into the drivers side of my car while i was more-or less stopped at a red light. The driver fully admitted liability for the accident and it is down as a non fault accident by me. Which will not effect my no claims as my car was repaired by the third party.
My insurence is up for renewal on the 29/09/2015 Admiral contacted me with a renewal price, which was an absolute shocking £5,700! I'm absolutly shocked too be honest. Ive been with the company ever since ive been driving, i've always had high powered cars, never had an issue. I was really disappointed as i love my ep3 and i looked for almost a year to find this specific one.
I got in contact with the company and asked why the insurence had increased by £4400. The first excuse was that all insurence has gone up for under 25's. But surely not by this amount. She then stated that it could be a number of different aspects. One being the fact i have had a accident, although not my fault it puts me as high risk.
I feel really angry, as i feel that being in accident which is not my fault. Shouldn't mean that my insurnce should go up by £4400 Theres nothing that I could of done, i am not high risk.. I was driving legally within my lane when someone else drifted into my path.
I have tried everything mutlicar policys with my parents, taking the mods off, nothing seems to be helping. Ive tried other company's and there saying the same thing. Im in a position now where i think £5700 outweighs the cost of my car, i could pay this but i feel it's wrong.
if anyone has been in a similar position, or can give me any advice it would be great! Ultimately this could be the moment where i have to sell my car if i cant sort something out, and i really don't want to sell it... I love it, its got 33,000 miles on the clock .. And its been such a great car to drive.
