Do Luck braided brake lines

I have fitted a set of these recently after reading up on what lines to get - these seemed to fit the bill.

I was reading a thread on CTRO recently, a bloke has posted pictures of the lines on his car.

It would appear they have cracked on the plastic sheath.. I have not heard of this happening elsewhere, have you ever been affected?

I know that Goodridge had an issue with a batch of their hoses but have never heard of an issue with Do-Luck.

Ok here's a couple of pictures i took a moment ago. I apologise because they are VERY poor photos, Its hammering with rain so didn't come in to check the photos before getting the car back on ground :bad-words:. Because of the rain I have only taken photos of the NSF, the worst one.
Anyway I think they show the issues I've got.

I cleaned up the lines with soapy water before taking the photos, as I writing this they are NOT leaking at all, they are just wet [smilie=karls_thumb.gif]

Photo to show the lines are fitted to a Type R.

Is it just cracking the plastic and not all the way through to the braided line as well?

:( I was gonna invest in a set of these very shortly, might have to rethink

Hopefully it's a one off

Oh dear.

TGM custom lines for me I think, if he can make them for my car. Failing that then HEL have good reviews on ATR.org.

The trouble is that the sheath hides the steel underneath, so it is hard to see if the line itself is cut. To me that looks like the plastic has cracked due to it being bent, or it has caught on something. However, you can never be too sure when it comes to the braking system.

I have heard of no other complaints with the DL lines hence me buying them..

Evostu reported an issue with them which alarmed me too.

You might well regret that. Mine burst! And that's not a joke by the way.

Oh and it was on normal road use, not even a track.

You shittin me! We had a GB on these kits from someone at JAE  Not good....

No I'm not joking, worst part was that they failed when a kid ran into the road. Luckily the car was almost stopped at that point. But the pedal went to the floor, brake fluid warning light came on, so I pulled into the local supermarket car park to have a look. The lines had burst on both sides and of course I had little brake fluid left.

Luckily Bilko came to my rescue and came over and fitted my OEMs back on and everythings been perfect since. So in short, these do luck lines are absolutely sh*te! Do not buy!

Those brake lines are currently installed on my ep3

I'll have to make sure that if anyone/anything runs out in front of me, to just keep it pinned!
they're on my teg too. You have to be very unlucky for both lines to pop at the same time..

I've heard of no other issues with these, they're actually rebranded Hel lines.

The Goodridge lines had a recall from memory due to failure but this is the first time I've heard of a problem with Hel/Do luck.

I'll try and take some pics of them at some point. IMO, absolutely sh*te lines....do not trust!

Where did you get them from? was this for an EP3?

I am going to ring Caz at Sumo Power later about this.

FN2. Sumo Power Ebay shop. :salut:

Just to add the guy bought that car over a year ago and they were already fitted to the car then.

Not a clue how evostu managed to burst them, I've pressed bloody hard on my brake pedal and they've not burst

Of course.. in fact the OEM ones are more likely to go fail due to wear and tear. It is worth checking them out.. Saying that my OEM ones were fine with no sign of imminent failure.

I have spoke to Caz at Sumo about this, she said they have sold loads, to Evo owners, GTR owners etc and they have not had one complaint.

Do-Luck are HEL lines rebranded.
I can only go from owners reports on the ATR forum, they say HEL are good so will go with them. Either that or TGM ones which I have heard nothing but praise about.

I've just got the Stoptech ones front and rear. Got them done when I first got the car and put DS2500s on the Standard calipers and some RBF600.

Breitling prices, triple the Do-luck kit at the time.

No sheath.

I bought a set in the CTRO GB a couple of years back, when I dropped the car into Tom to get them fitted he gave me a call to say he wasn't happy about fitting them due to their length. Long and the short of it (see what I did there) they are too short, and are put under pressure when doing tight turns. Wonder if this is what's causing the problems?

For what it's worth I ended up going for a set of TGM wonder lines, which were a fair bit longer than the Do-Luck efforts.

IMHO, from experience, The TGM kit is fantastic, both for value and quality.

You can't go wrong.
