Fn2 b pipe question

Hi guys, I'm new to the forum and type R's so be gentle....

I have just purchased a 2010 cw fn2. I've got a couple of questions but for this section I'm trying to find out where I can purchase an unsilenced b pipe for the car. I've been scanning this section a page at a time but can only seem to find them for ep3's

There aren't that many around to be honest. Most people buy a full cat back exhaust. The only one with an unsilenced b pipe is the Milltek unresonated cat back really and a lot of people consider it a bit loud.

Saying all that, Supersprint do just the b pipe, but for the price you would be able to get a custom one made up.

Cheers Loxy, I see what you mean about the price, it's not far off a whole cat back system anyway. Saying that the reason for wanting it was just a small increase in noise and abit of rasp. Nothing to mental though as don't want a motorway droner. I read on another site (http://civictype-r.co.uk/) which for some reason after me making an account it won't validate me. That the main restriction is the b pipe? Also by doing this I take it will void my manufacturers warranty, well at least on the exhaust?

It shouldn't affect your warranty at all. The modification must be at least partly responsible for whatever failure you've had.

So changing your suspension springs would not affect your paint for example. I think they'd have a hard time trying to claim a b pipe affected any part of the car to be honest.

please let me know if you get anywhere with this buddy, i would like to do exactly the same!

just in case you hadn't noticed the price for the supersprint one is in euros, so its more like £235! i didnt notice the first time round!

cheers

Aye. Second hand Millteks go for about £350 to be honest, so it's not that bad.

Yeah does suck *** that the ep boys at least get the option of a non stainless non silenced b pipe for about 60 notes! I did drop the makers an email but like a lot of the time.... No reply.... So I'm just taking that as they can't supply one!

Get a price for a custom one, you might be surprised. It won't be £60 cheap mind you!

I'm dropping in to sca race rally in Norwich on Thursday to see what they can do! I really don't know a lot about this stuff so what would be the best thing to ask for? An unsilenced rear pipe? Would changing the back box be worthwhile/ more / less expensive?

i have just ordered the abp milltek cat back reading what you put in this thread loxy i am a bit concered abp guy on the phone said it wasnt stupidly loud so i am hoping its a different system to the one you wrote about guess i will find out in a few days though

Don't get me wrong some people like it. If it's the resonated version it won't be that bad, but I thought I'd read ABP had stopping doing that one as most people bought the non-resonated version.

I've got a race header on mine, it would be impractiable for me to use the non-res version. Get a vid up when you have it fitted and let us know your thoughts. ;)

I'm sure I will be corrected if wrong but what you want is an unsilenced b pipe, otherwise known as, centre section or mid section. This is the most restricted part of the system, so just changing this would be the cheapest and most effective on a budget. I believe you will require a 2.5 inch bore pipe.

I'm still waiting to do mine as the spare money I was saving for it has had to go elsewhere :(

Unsilenced mid pipe it is then, I might aswell fund out the price if a custom cat back while I'm there, I'm sure they will offer!
Anyone know any other places in the Norwich area for custom exhausts?

yea get the mrs to do a video i am pretty useless on computers really hope its not stupidly loud because i do a drive from east anglia to wolverhampton and back occasionaly so 5 hour motorway drive will be unbearable

I have found a place near me that sells the blueflame catback and it's constituent parts separately, the centre pipe us £130! I've got no idea if this is unsilenced ***! Can someone give me an opinion on the kind of noise this would make?

What I can gather blue flame is not well sought after?! I'm not to sure why? Possibly quality is not that hot? You might find that you have to have both centre section and rear box as the joints might not be exactly the same place as the OE

rosco just my opinion but rather than pay 150-200 to add centre or back you might be better just leaving it standard till you got funds for full system and at least you know it will all fit together nice and give the right sound and performance the milltek one i got coming was 500 but around that mark there is a pretty wide choice
