Loxy's Plasma Blue WRX STi Saloon

Remember, you're dealing with general public lol. I'd personally ask them to supply a photo of the top and the rear next to a ruler, so at least you know what's what.

I'm surprised you haven't given up yet

Have you tried one of the breakers on Scoobynet? They should be able to sort you some caps out I would have thought.

I posted a sort of begging for help thread in the wheels section, but I didn't really get any sort of response.

Whether the breakers don't read the rest of the forum I don't know. Every set of alloys I've seen on the bay won't split centre caps which is fair enough.

I'll see whether these fit that I've ordered first. Then do look exactly like the OEM ones, but as I've learned the pics don't mean toffee.

Nice WRX STi buying guide and so forth in this months EVO John.

Doesnt say anything about centre caps though :(

Ah, I've sorted those. Genuine fakes from Taiwan.

Look a different colour under the glare of a flash but match in the day light. :)

I might peruse the news agents in the morning. Does it say much about the MY11s?

Ah, I only skimmed thro the mag and saw that, sorry.
Can always send you a pdf of the guide.

Aye, they aren't too bad in all honesty. The chap selling them massively undersold them!

Went to Grinspeed today after it's first MOT. Advisory on front brakes being low, but apart from that passed. Commented on how clean it was underneath.

Stevie did the 4th service on it, which was basically an engine oil change, gearbox and rear diff oils. On inspection of the air filter it already had a K&N panel filter in so happy days, it just needed a clean. Brake fluid will be done when the front brakes get changed and I'm not looking forward to the prices on those.

Stevie was the consummate professional as ever. Top job. :smt023

I was stuck in traffic for a majority of the way home but I'll give it some welly in the morning to see if the oil change has made much difference. The gearbox is positively silky for a Subaru now though, a vast improvement. The rear diff oil was pretty much black when it came out, much much darker than the gearbox oil. Should be happy days for a bit now until the cam belt at 66k.

39600.

Geo was measured but neither of us knew what's best for these.

It's currently 0.5 deg toe in and 1.3mm neg camber on the rear and I can't remember the toe on the front but 0.8mm neg camber on the front.

I'm going to have to do some research and then it's just some camber bolts for the front. Rear camber should be fine at that and toe is adjustable from OEM.

Saw this on Stevie's Facebook earlier. God damn it looked dirty, give it a wash man!
The brakes shouldn't be much worse than the Civic really mate. I recently changed all discs and pads for £350 (Pagid ones - absolutely brilliant they are too!) at a local specialist including labour. I paid more than half that just for DS2500 pads on the Civic all round.

That's not too bad in all honesty Nick. I was expecting more. Stevie should have a price in the morning.

Aye, there's a lot of salt on the roads round this way. I don't know what it's like over there? I did mean to wash it over the weekend but then seemed to get very little done!

Apart from a little extra performance, what's the difference between these and the WRX and the WRX S?

Like engine wise and suspensions etc? They're up for a hell of a lot more than the lower models.

Brakes (Brembos), Spec C suspension, gearbox with DCCD, seats, interior trim etc, intercooler, I think it's bigger turbo, different inlet manifold, air box, exhaust manifold and exhaust.

A fair bit really! They didn't bring out a saloon WRX in the UK.

Oh ok, a fair bit then  I was having a convo with a colleague about cars and stuff and he was saying that you're just better off buying a WRX hatch 230bhp or a WRX S 255bhp and then doing exhaust, chip, IC and air filter than getting an STI with 300bhp. But as I know fudge all about these new ones I didn't actually know what made the STI special apart from the obvious styling and performance.

How is the car anyway? Any plans as of yet?

Aye, there is a fair bit that sets them apart. Have a go in them both. The STi, power aside, will feel more special.

I'm desperate for a centre decat, or complete new front cat back and remap but money has been fudging tight since moving house.

Don't the STI's have stronger engine internals too?

You'd hope so wouldn't you but I wasn't sure so didn't put it. The STi's are good for 380ish with breathing mods before you need to think about forged pistons and fuel pumps. I've no idea on the hatch WRXs though.

Unsure of your era but in classics the only difference between wrx and sti are the heads, turbo and uppipe. Newage is big ported AVCS heads, bigger turbo, uppipe.

Classic sti's have forged pistons I know that. A sti is virtually completely different car, suspension, engine, interior. Wrx is virtually bottom spec.
