    CH1 Advice on transmission fluid

Didn't the garage that replaced your clutch do all this for you? Also, with regards to your other post where you are still having problems selecting gears, can't you take it back to the garage that did the work?

    FN2 CTR in Auto Express

I'm an AutoExpress subscriber and this article really annoyed me. I got the mag in the post on Tuesday, and the title emblazoned on it was something like "New Civic Type R meets Golf GTi". "Great!", I thought, hoping to read a good review of how the new Civic drives and handles on a good blast...

TJ, thanks for explaining all that. The car is due it's 81k service soon, as it's currently on 78k. I think I'll take it to the dealer in Altrincham, as I used to take my old car (04 Accord Sport) there for services and they were excellent, even cleaning and valeting the car every time it went...

Cheers Judderman, that sounds more reasonable to me, compared to the £73+VAT Honda tried to charge me.

I'll be there, wherever the hell it is. Anyone else from the forum gonna be able to make that, I'm assuming it's in the North West somewhere.

Right! I have my baby back, and she's purring like a kitten. The job sheet from the dealer says: Note, no mention of cleaning the EGR valve which they told me they had done, and no mention of tappets!!! Managed to get the price down to 2 hours labour, total £171.55 inc VAT. Got 75...

Right, just spoken to the lady at System-R. Paul was busy, but I left a message with her with all the details so hopefully he'll call me back and I'll get the car taken in at the weekend. Quel surprise, I was told at 14:15 that someone at Honda Warrington would call me back. 15:45 and still...

Thanks for the quick reply, Red. The guy on the phone told me that "4 of the tappets were completely closed" so they've adjusted them now and they're ok. I am worried that these guys don't know what they're doing, so I might take it into System-R anyway for a once-over. Unfortunately, I don't...

Just back from football, I have a bruised rib and a bruised ego after losing 12-3! I'm off to ring the dealer now, then hopefully Paul at System-R if the dealer hasn't sorted my problem. SF, the dealer claims to have cleaned the EGR valve which made no difference, but thanks for the heads-up...

Update: My car is still at the dealers in Warrington. They've made little effort to keep me updated, I've had to call them every time. They say they have cleaned the EGR valve, cleaned something else that they were very vague about, and when I spoke to them yesterday they were 'adjusting...

    a couple of my atr

Very nice and tidy, TW. Apart from the bumber scuffs which I assume were done by your missus and not you!? Any exterior mods planned? I'm hoping to get rear privacy tints, a nice subtle grille, and perhaps painted calipers and that's my lot for the exterior I reckon.

Yeah, disconnecting the battery is an option I guess, but a bit messier. I have my manual here so I'll have a browse now.

    Engine warning lamp

To cure my own curiosity, does anyone know how to do this on an ATR? Same fuse? Also, if your ECU was going into 'safe mode' for a valid reason, is it safe to assume that it will go back into 'safe mode' straight away to stop any damage occuring? Cheers Dan

Judderman, thanks very much for your reply. I've dropped the car off at Lookers in Warrington tonight, and they will have a look at it tomorrow. The car was serviced at 73k, and it had 77k on when I bought it. All that was done at that service was Oil/Filter (doesn't say what brand, but...

Thanks for the informative reply, Chris. Just rang System-R and got the BT call minder, so I guess they're probably closed now until New Year :( I'm reasonably clear on how the VTEC/High Cam works on oil pressure, but unfortunately hadn't checked it since picking it up on Monday night, and...

Cheers for the thumbs-up with System-R guys, I'll give them a ring now. They'll probably still be closed for the Winterval, if they've got any sense.

Heheh, don't start that. It's bad enough coming back into work and working with a Koppite! How many points did you get on Saturday? :P By the way, don't suppose you know if these guys are any good? http://www.system-r.co.uk/ They are about ten minutes from where I live so I might give...

Hey Tumble, thanks for the quick reply. I've seen you on the atr.org.uk forum, but I can only access that from home. For some reason it is blocked here on the work firewall, due to 'pornographic content'!

Hi all, well, I first drove an ATR about 6 years ago when I managed to blag one for a few days and happened to be working in Devon for those next few days. Three days and 1000 miles later I was hooked and promised myself that I would get one one day. So, after ten years of company-cardom...
