Thats what Fish Brothers Honda, Swindon want to do my chain and tensioner !

I've read many threads on here where people are getting this done for half the cost.

Anyone know of a reputable specialist in the Swindon/Wiltshire area that dont rip you off ?

they're not a Honda specialist but Briken motors in Trowbridge is an excellent garage, my family have taken all our cars there for years, really helpful, know their stuff and good prices too!
 
Is it stretched, or is the car still driveable?

Take a trip to TGM if you can afford it, they won't rip you off fo' sho'.

They told me it had 'jumped 3 teeth'

I had it booked in for valve clearances anyway, but then the EML light came on yesterday morning so asked them to diagnose the fault.

Now they tell me that they dont want to turn the ignition over [when doing the valves ???] as this may ruin the engine completely.

The car, although in limp mode, was ok when i drove it 5 miles to the dealers this morning.

Been at work from 8 till 8 today and did not have time to 'shop around' for other places/prices.

I honestly think the car would be fine to drive gently to another place, even as far away as TGM.
 
I would get it picked up on a flat bed or trailer it (TGMSport has these) and drop it into Tom :)

Do you know how much they would want for that ? And any idea on what they would want from my pockets for doing the chain etc ?

Take it to TGM. Or some garage in Trowbridge specialist in Japanese cars.

Haha, Sunday the car was fine.

Will pop into Trowbridge tomorrow lunchtime and see what they say.
 
Spoke to Tom at TGM. Has quoted me £450 all in. Fish Brothers Honda in Swindon came back with their best quote of 'ooooohh, well i suppose we could do it for £800"

I now need to get my car to Fleet (on a trailer), an easy 60 mile journey from Swindon.

Tom was brilliant. He said that they were fully booked out for next week and a half, but said he could stay behind after hours to do the work, otherwise its a 3 week wait !

Time to organise the transport !

Sure is mate. Mind you, after going in and talking to them this morning, they said that the person had 'guessed' the price for total cost and said it would be between £900-£1000.

Doesn't really fill you with confidence does it !

W@nker dealer. That sort of attitude really p1sses me off.

Hope you asked why they couldn't do that price before and told them to shove it and will tell everyone you know they are con merchants.

I would take it to Tom if it was 200 miles away tbh.
 
I would just use TGM from now on! For the extra 60miles and won't be ripped off worth the drive if you ask me and they know what they are doing.... hope all works out mate

Car is being taken to TGM on Wednesday morning for Tom to sort out.

From what i have read on here and on their website, this place is worth travelling from anywhere to get your car done.

Will update when i get my car back.
