0-60 times on Modded EP3's

Hondata ECU, RBC inlet, Race header with decat, and some sort of uprated centre exhaust section are the best mods to get.

Its the Hondata thats goin to put the price up after have fitted all the other stuff but its well needed.

So there are noticeable gains in performance at mid range, as long as there are noticeable gains in the performance of the car then mods are worth while. Have chosen not to mod my EP2 as the gains would be minimal, hence im waiting and saving for performance mods on an EP3. But as long as the gains are noticeable then im happy :)

Depends how much you want to spend on the mods.
A guy on another forum i'm on has an EP2 and is running around 160BHP

Is that on ep-civic.co.uk or civicep2.co.uk ? Im on both lol Guy on my main forum ep civic is turbo'ing his ep2 for just shy of 200bhp :D

its on none of the above but he may well be on them
wouldn't it be cheaper to sell his EP2 and buy an EP3 for the same power?

Apparently once it is all done and fitted, he have more torque then an EP3. Plus he has a green EP2 (crazy I know) But once he has turbo'd it he will have the equivilant of an EP3 but its green, fair play to him though he wants to do something different and there are no green type R's so anyone with EP knowledge will work out that he has boosted an EP2, and dw he doesn't have any Type R badges on the car. I am interested to see how it turns out, think fitting the turbo is costing around the area of 1k (but dont quote me on that)

But anyway back on topic, say if I was to fit a GruppeM to an EP3, after fitting it would I actually notice any difference in how the car performed? Would the car pull harder then when it was running stock? I have read that quite a few people on here have bought GruppeM's and then have swapped back to stock air boxes and have done the airbox mod that you guys can do, why...

This chap has heard of resprays hasnt he? Its an interesting concept and maybe this person is very attached to their EP2 and wants to get the most out of it, but still sounds like an odd endeavour. What do EP2s run as stock?

Yeah course he has but who is going to take an EP3 and resray it wine bottle green lol EP2's round around 108 bhp, cant quote the torque figures as I can't remember them off the top of my head. They run 0-60 in around 10.6, theres a guy on our forum who has stripped out his ep2 and made a custom intake, his upgraded various parts of his engine and he is running 0-60 in around 7.5 seconds which is impressive for a 1.6 N/A economy engine.

sorry to keep quoting 0-60 times, would be a bit pointless saying 1/4 mile times like you guys do because ep2 ones are slow.

Crazy. Who would spend more to get less?! :freak:

It's like paying the price of a high class escort, and going out with the rough cleaner from work.

lol.
You'll probably get 6-7BHP from just the gruppe M, and no you won't feel the difference but it will sound awesome and put a big smile on your face. :D

Im feeling the 0-60 and 0-100 times but I don't get the 1/4 mile times.

I run 14.56 @ 97.04 mph, totaly stock(ep3).

Bruntingthorpe is notorious for its poor surface. GPS data logger does not lie.

Have heard about the surface stroke grip problems.

If i'd spent several K on half a second I'd peobably wish the logger would lie to me and tell me I just ran a 13.2 or something. Not, spend anything upto five thousand pounds for half a second or seven eight tenths. I'll keep it stock thanks, and play turbo/ charged noises through the oem cd player ;)

I think the 0-60 and 0-100 times in that post were pretty decent but exit speeds of over a ton, mid 5's 0-60's but only mid 14's 1/4 mile

I think suits(from this forum) has a nice example, sensible-ish mods at not the craziest amount of money and iirc, flat 14's. I like.

Hey, anyone ever used a GPS enabled phone to measure their 1/4 mile times, the're pretty accurate and give you all the info. I tried one out and was well impressed. One I downloaded was called Tempes and although the screen that measures looks basic and only gives you speed, 0-60 and 1/4 mile times when you goto the results it gives you Everything!

I haven't got a 1/4 mile time from it yet(not sure but I think maybe because the road I tried it on weren't totally straight) but here is an example of a 0-60 measurement.

30-08-09 07:07

0-60mph: 7.3 s

mph ft
0-10: 0.9 s 14 ft
0-20: 2.0 s 44 ft
0-30: 3.2 s 95 ft
0-40: 4.7 s 185 ft
0-50: 6.2 s 293 ft
0-60: 7.3 s 413 ft

0-60 ft: 2.4 s 0-60 ft: 23.7 mph
0-330ft: 6.7 s 0-330 ft : 53.1 mph

Peak: 67 mph
0-100 km/h: 7.5 s

All for $20!

Bargin

This was two people(90kg[bro] and 65kg[me]) in a stock 04 ep3 with 55K and 3/4 tank of standard unleaded(misus never uses the good stuff :( :(, although always told to:twisted:  ). I reckon with decent and maybe less fuel it would still do a sub 7 maybe a 6.8, 5 years after leaving the factory! JAPAN POWER

It's an intresting point, we did actually say on the day that pond vs performance Carls car did win.

As Nick says though there was no grip at Brunters from a start. Feathering 1st & 2nd gear just to get grip it was a miracle i managed a 5.55!:p

The 0-100 time shows you where a charged or highly modified ctr really shines. 4.9 seconds to 100 quicker than a standard car!

Looking at just 1/4 miles times is a bit blinkered its how it performs when rolling. If you want to prove a good 1/4 mile time, lower pressures on Toyo R888's at santa pod and you will run low 13's all day long.
