just bought an FN2 and when cold sometimes struggles to get into 3rd gear. It doesnt pop out of third just crunches when putting it in 3rd. When warm its fine.

If you bought it from a dealer take it back with a print out of the pic as it is a warranty fix.

If you bought it private get your wallet out time.

The third gear synchro gets premature wear unless the fix is applied. Eventually it will start doing it most of the time and popping out of gear I'm afraid.

just right click the pic in loxys post and choose "save image as", that will save it to your pc fella
 
Just rang Arnold Clark and they said it will be covered under the warranty however do you think they will just say they can't tell as it only happens on a few occasions in the cold. Shall I just leave it and get the telegraph warranty which is £400 for the year ad they pay out for everything. So leave it until it gets really bad? That's if it does get worse?!? IDEAS. Also I don't like the idea of a young mechanic knocking the back out of my car testin it out tomorrow morning :(
 
Just got to leave it with them and see how it goes unfortunately.
 
im dropping it off on Wednesday so will see what happens, hopefully they will do it for me. I rang Honda and becuase it doesnt have extended warranty they wont do it.
 
Just realized after reading this that my clutch pedal clicks when you push it down? and clicks on the way back up?
I haven't noticed anything majorly wrong with third but I suppose thinking about it, it sometimes does struggle to get in that gear more than any.

that sounds like mine it doesnt happen all the time thats why i think Arnold Clark will just say they think its ok. But my clutch clicks at the bottom and third gear doesnt feel right when cold.
 
Well been to Arnold Clark and they have put the job through under Warranty for the 3rd and 4th gear synchro :) Just waiting on the parts to be ordered and taking it in to be done next week :)
 
well the car went in today to be fixed and had a call and the gear box has been sent to a specialist to be fixed :-/
 
reading through this post i think i have got all those problems together 3rd is sometimes a little tricky to get in i always get the squaking noise when cold and i have got the clicking noise on clutch pedal think i will pop to local honda dealer weekend see what they say
 
I have got this problem also, i sent car into honda and they mentioned the hints & tips bulletin. They have said to me that as the car has done 52k then it might be down to wear and tear, if this is the case when they remove the gearbox and its not a mechanical failure then i would have to pay for the labour etc all in all £800 :(

plus me being in the middle of buying my first house i dont really have this kind of money floating around.

Any suggestions
