I have a question, its been some time with both of the cars in the market, so maybe there is some knowledge about this,
what is the difference in the engine and drivetrain as a whole between the fk2 and 8? they are not exactly the same that's for sure, its just that I don't know all the differences and if someone had some experience with both I would appreciate some light shed.
now a few differences that comes to my mind are:
1. the T valve is removed in the fk8 from factory, where in the fk2 you need to remove that,
2.the clutch is single mass in the fk8 vs dual mass in the fk2, which can be "upgraded" to the fk8`s
3.there is some issue with the timing belt misplacement in the fk2 which as far as I understood all cars have, its just not always will cause a real life issue and likely can drive 100-200K without even knowing that, not sure if its fixed in the fk8 but I think it is (this issue cause some internal error that's requires a special scanner to read)
one more thing I would like to discuss, what oil are you guys using?
so far I used in my fk2 the oem 0W20, which is fine on one end, but I live in an extremely hot country and when boost kicks the temp fly high,
110C in a few moments of driving hard, now that should not be an issue at first glance, but above 100c and especially above 110c, the oil pressure drops,
it should be 1.0 at idle and 4.0 at 3000 rpm (or 3.0 at 4000 will verify) but long story short at 110c+ its goes to 0.9 and even to 0.8 at idle, thats not good,
I know the tolerance of the engine is higher then its stated at the book, but still I dont like that.
I was wondering on trying the motul300v 5w30 or 0w40, or the AMS same viscosity.
also will install oil cooler soon
