After Market ECU for cammed EP3

Is after market ECU necessary for Toda cams ( A3 for example) to work properly? I ve been checking Toda's site and they say that A3 cams require ECU with tunable VTC function. What exactly do they mean?

K100, Kpro or the AEM ECU. basically its an ECU that can be mapped. A standard ECU can't be altered.

Kpro and AEM 100% positive, but Im not sure about the K100.

iirc k100 & Kpro work exactly the same apart from the data logging.

Kpro is about 700 euros more expensive from k100. Is Kpro worthing the difference?

This is what my thoughts were, but wasn't 100%. I know with the K100 you cant plug your own laptop into it and adjust things like Rev Limits and Boost like I do with my Kpro.

No, all EP3s have a throttle cable.

VTC is variable cam timing.

You can tune that in kpro and k100

Are these necessary for cams, lets say A3 to work, or its just waste of money??

It's not needed no. They limit the amount of angle the cams can be set by the ECU. This is done on mapping on Kpro/K100 so they are a bit pointless really if the mapping is done right.

Best single throttle of market for K20?? One of the best?. I ve been reading about RBC intake and all advantages, i conclude that a compination of RBC and this toda single throttle will be awesome!
