Back in the hot seat. CW DC5 :)

Morning all

Been a good while since I posted here, since I sold my last EP3 last year. Saw a DC5 in Swindon a few weeks back, and got a serious itch, so did a deal for my 130i, probably robbing myself in the process, but my testicular fizzing took over.

52 plate, CW DC5, 89k on the clocks (open to interpretation on actual mileage ). Come with some nice Mugen bolt ons, Intake, twin loop cat back, Eibachs (hence slight reverse rake), innovative engine mounts, and probably other stuff I've not found yet.

Body wise, the condition is remarkable. Mechanically, I think it's sound, but too busy having noise paranoia to test it properly. I think going from an ep3 to a dc5 would make you appreciate the relative quietness, but from a near soundproof 130i, it's certainly a shock to the system.

Stunning cars.

I'm half planning on going back to standard, but also half tempted to swap the mugen for a Spoon N1, just to hide the road noise. The mugen kit is very quiet.

Picking up a standard intake this evening, not sure which one I'll end up keeping. The vtec engagement seems uneventful with the mugen, so might as well go OEM until I find something else.

Very nice, looks in really good nick! :smt023

I thought it might have been resprayed given the condition, but found d a few chips, and some swirl marks, so assuming it's at least mostly factory paint.

Seats need a good clean though!

Hello and Welcome :D

I do like the DC5s :) Your are in Swindon so you can nip to the Honda plant and pick up parts. :D

I used live in Oxford. Too no time to get parts in.

Loxy would the DC5 twin loop fit the EP3? :) I guess not.

I am after a mugen twinloop :D I like the sound of them. Sporty but not at normal driving or idle. Kicks in with vtec how I want it to be. If you go N1 I will hear your DC5 in Scotland :D

Ha ha. Would it drown out my noises that make me paranoid though ;)

The innovative mounts just push all vibrations into the cabin, in terms of physical vibration, it's only noticed on idle, but in general terms I think they are turning the body panels and cabin into a speaker and amplifying every noise.

They'll be off as soon as I get standard OEM mounts too. Pointless on a daily I think.

My EP3 is standard at the mo. Want it KPro4ed and the mugen cat back system and FRSU at later date. Got an 06 Premier CTR

Spoon stuff is good. I am going for the Mugen theme

The Twin Loop is the full lot from the cat back. DC5 and EP3 b-pipes are interchangeable but the back boxes are different lengths IIRC.

It is a separate part number for the DC5 and EP3 variants of the Twin Loop anyway.

Enough thread crapping from me, only jealous!

Yeah the two systems are different. Unsure why you'd want rid of a twin loop to go standard on the exhaust front.

Keep it.

Back to the Honda's John eh! lol Really sweet looking DC5 mate. Think the DC5 is my favourite Integra, just love the shape of them!

Love the DC5 looks proper mint mate

She does seem sound.
Gave a good run yesterday, 300 mile round trip to snetterton on mostly B roads.

Managed to park trackside, and she got more attention than the Porsche alongside. Quite amusing :)

Nice bit of a pre winter detail today.

Too wey out to get a proper sealing paste on, but some Megs liquid wax will do for a couple of weeks. Had the front windows done too, blends in nicely without being overly dark.

Mugen intake is gone for now at least.

Absolutely amazing car ! You might be able to get another silencer put in if noise is an issue !

If it hasn't got decent rubber on this could affect the 'road noise' also. Which may change your views on the catback :)

Yes mate. Front tyre noise is significantly more than the rear. Yokohama's on the front (not ad08's) and they let go in the dry much faster than I like, but I could be pushing too hard too. Sidewalls are a little soft too. They'll be going as soon as I've destroyed them.

It's a full Twinloop system, so noise wise, it's not dreadful at all. Think it's more culture shock coming from an ep3, to a 130i, then to the teg.

Priorities at the min are to lift the rear with new springs. They ride really well, but the reverse rake is horrible looking.

I'm not planning on anything major until I get used to the car and it's noises.

Seats look a little faded, so I'd love to restore the colour somehow. But now the windows are done, they certainly shouldn't get worse :)

Hate them. They are the 85a spec (black) ones, I'd swap for standard mounts in a heartbeat.

I've got rattle ocd, so at idle my hands are all over the place trying to stop them!
If it wasn't for the rattles, they're not shocking I suppose.

I did hear the 60a ones are actually worse though. Too soft so can sag and make things worse!
