Boot hydraulic rods(OUCH)

Messages

Been away for a week, went up the garage to get stuff out of the boot, noticed if felt a bit heavy when raising it but didn't think anything of it, as I leaned into the car the boot come down and cracked me clean on the back of the head. Has anyone's rods ever failed before? When I raise and lower it a few mm you can hear the air in the rod, but it won't support it at the top

Yeah mine went before, don't remember them being that bad where they fell and hit me but definitely wouldn't open fully without assistance.

Yeah gas struts don't last forever, you can either have them refurbished or replaced.

Loxy are the struts in the links you provided the correct Honda struts? Don't want to buy for the boot to not open far enough or open too much lol

That's the FN2 part number. Are we on about the FN2 here?!

Thankfully google finds them cheaper.

I've not read it too closely either so no idea. Tailgate struts is one issue I've never had. Good point about the extra oomph required to handle the heavier spoiler though, never twigged that before.

I suppose a call to the company mentioned might help.

The answer is NO they don't fit an EP3. Just opened the wrapper and noticed they were a bit longer, but I thought that may of been due to the fact they hadn't been compressed

So I can on to fit one side no problem but as went in to get the other strut it must of compressed a bit, so as I was lifting the boot to put the other strut on, the ball had a snapped off on the completed side
