Can fully synthetic oil damage your engine?

More a question for oilman

I've heard from a Fuchs rep that comes to our work that if you put Fully Synthetic oil into a standard car engine it'll damage your engine as Fully Synthetic oil is designed for race cars running at high RPM for long periods and the oil's only in the system for 2-3 races

Is there any truth in this?

There are a lot of urban myths when it comes to engine oil. Fully synth stuff you can buy now is a lot better than the stuff they used to make.

Fully synth is a bit risky in older cars that are prone to leaking. Apart from that, it all sounds like bollocks to me.

Did he have a lorry load of semi-synth that he was trying to get rid of?

Nope, he was in as we buy our machine coolant from them and was just having a crack with him as i know he's into his motorbikes

Cheers for the links Jermal, will check them out later
