Centre Console EP3

Quite a few people have carbon wrapped thier consoles. I'm not a fan, it's such a awkward shape that it never seems to come out perfectly, and as howie says it tends to bubble.

Somebody, can't remember who, had thiers flocked in bright green, I think it looked amazing.

No i didn't do mine it was someone from ebay, it was fine when i got it but am guessing with the heat over time it just started to bubble.

It was only really the gloss black that showed up all the dust it isn't as bad with nizmos one cause its kinda grey.

hmm maybe carbon fibre is not such a good idea then! Really don't want it to start bubbling and end up looking crap! Will probably just spray it then when I decide on a colour. Thanks guys!

Nizmos isn't a wrap its dipped so can't bubble up. He will do most colours aswell not just carbon affect he paints other colours and his work is great.

They look really good. Think I'm gonna go for the carbon fibre dip! What's a rough price? For console, fascia and door handle inserts?

Actually, it's between the CF or the gloss black! Haha. Can you give me a quote for both please? :)

same price Aimi

I am about to strip my own dash again as I am going to go with the custom black mettalic myself as I really like it
and it will match my night hawk black ep3 perfectly

cheers tom :)

I really liked the red candy paint myself
to do the console it took 9 or 10 layers in total to do it which consisted of primer , silver basecoat , red candy paint and 2k clear coat
quite alot of of work went into the red candy console but it was worth it as it really looks good :)

the lad I done the red candy console has sent me one of those air ducts for the facelift front bumper to do in red candy as well so i will be spraying that this coming week :)

They look fantastic nizmo, great job. I'm loving the candy red too, candy is a PITA.

cheers jim :)
I really like what you have done with your console as well mate it looks great
the red and white is very eye catching which I really like :)

Thanks man, it means alot when someone with your talent compliments it! I've never had any instruction for painting, just many years of painting anything that can't run away. The next job is a big one, candy blue wheels! Any tips and/or advice?

Some of you peeps may be interested in this website: http://www.specialistpaints.com/index.php

If like me you don't have access to a paint shop or garage, some of thier rattle cans might be worth a try. I haven't used any of thier products yet, but it looks like theres potential for some pretty cool effects!

Hi Jim

thats pretty cool mate candy paints really have a lovely effect

I will give you a pm later on in the day with a couple of tips as I am away to the doctors soon and then to the breakers yard to look for a couple of bits and bobs

yea the specialistpaints have some really good paint I have used their products and have always been happy with the results :)
I used some of their spectral prism paint a little while ago which was very cool

That's superb news! Thanks man, I've been worried that it would be pretty low quality coming from a rattle can and all. Any experience and help would be much appreciated! There's no rush, I can't paint my wheels until next month when I have some leave.

Also, I love your knob.

LOL yea I had to give it a right good rubbing to get the shine on it LOL

with the specialistpaint rattle cans they come with fan nozzles which are pretty good there is a trick to get the best spray out of the rattle can which I will tell you when I pm you
Once on a blue moon I use their rattle cans if I am only spraying a small item that does not require a lot of paint and I cant justify buying a litre of the paint to spray the small part
or if I want to try the paint out first then I will buy the rattle can to make sure I am happy with the effect or colour then buy a litre of the stuff from them.
the paints I have had from them is always very high quality and their rattle cans are very good :)

here is some of their paint I received today

to get the best results a hvlp gravity spray gun is the best option here is two of the ones that I have been using

also been I just sprayed a speed shape in flip paint the other day as I was testing the paint out

Nizmo just wondering do you think you could paint a full car? lol i'm not wanting it done just thought I would ask.

I wouldnt try it at this point in time mate

as all the stuff I have done is parts I can fit into my small garden DIY spraybooth workshop and I haven't done a car yet
but later on in life once we decide to sell our house and go for a bigger house with a garage I was thinking of buying a banger of a car and practising on it
but that will be years down the line.

I know how to spray a car but I have never tried it so I would not attempt it at this time mate :)

I was thinking of making stickyback stencils and spraying the bulk of the tree and panda, then hand painting the details - small branches, nose etc. Then paper stencils for the blossom, to give a fuzzier look to the petals.
