Centre console removal EP3

Guide to removal of the centre console on the EP3.

Loosen the locking nut underneath the gear knob with a 14mm spanner, remove knob and locking nut.

Push your fingers into the gear gaitor below the lever, hook them behind the console and pull outwards. The lower console will pop out, unplug the cigarette lighter and hazard switch, remove console.

The upper console is attached by two bolts that clamp the metal bracket on rear of console to the dashboard. Open the glovebox and squeeze the sides inwards to drop it forward and allow access to the left hand bolt. Remove the plastic trim below the steering colum to allow access to the right hand bolt.

Loosen but do not remove both bolts with an 8mm socket. Sorry for the bad photo, it's a difficult area to reach.

Select 4th gear, and pad the lever to prevent scratching the console. Pull the bottom of the console out, gently work around the edges to pull the clips out. When it comes free, rest the console on the gear lever. Unplug three green plugs and stereo connection, no need to label these as they won't fit into the wrong holes. Remove console.

This is the rear of the console. The green arrow show the position of the three green plugs and the red arrows show the bolts that secure the metal bracket to the dashboard.
