Change of tyre profile

Hi all, I need to replace my rear tyres on my CTR ep3 and was thinking of going for a lower profile this time round, 205 40 17 instead of 45's, replacing both rears for now then doing the fronts later as they still have
some life in them yet. Has anyone done this as well and if so did you experience any problems? A friend of
mine seems to think it may put a strain on the gearbox etc?!
Any comments would be appriciated,

i'm running 205/40/17 and my car is absolutely fine, why on earth would it put strain on the gearbox?! it might put the speedo readings out a little but not enough to be worried about

It will be fine, just a minor speed change on speedo, I run 215/40/17's and they look and run great with no issues.
