clicking sound from brakes

when i brake hard there is a clicking noise coming from the brakes which im pretty sure i can feel through the pedal but that might just be me...ive never thought much of it but last night had to brake hard to a full stop as a cyclist pulled out on me (should have just carried on ) and it clicked at me then all 4 wheels locked up and all though it wasnt out of control it sh!t me right up lost a lot of confidence under braking...any ideas what it might be??

That's the anti locking brake system kicking in (ABS)

above its the abs working to maintain control and not skidding...feels like a machine gun going off under your foot.

The clicking noise could be a sticky pad, I think it's called pad slap
