Crazy wipers!

MY wifes car is a 1.8 07 civic, and I can't imagine the wiper set up being any different to the 'R's. Anyway, the wipers have gone nuts, they will not stop when they should and when they do they are across the windscreen at random angles. They also seem to be going full speed! not good when the screen is iced up!
I am guessing that there must be some kind of control module, but need help please guys!
Anyone had this?

It's a sensor in the motor. You can clean it out by all accounts. There is a how to on a thread over on here:

There are some updates later in the thread. You can do that or replace the motor. Obviously it's a free fix if you can clean it out.
