Custom made rollcage do's and dont's

I'm going to see a friend of a friend tomorrow about making me a rollcage for my type r ep3.
I'm just wondering if anyone as a custom made one and knows what I should make sure he's going to do as its not something he does all the time.

I'm going to ask if he can make it so I can take it out if needed but I don't know if I need to be asking anything else or what I should be expecting to pay?

Any advise welcome

Thanks lee

Take it somewhere that know's how to make rollcages. They aren't something you want to get wrong IMO.

^^^ This. Plus if you want to do motorsport, you wont pass scrutineering without an FIA or MSA stamp.

As above, If there asking you how to build it walk away... Have seen some scary stuff over the years from "specialists"

There's an echo in here but I'm gonna say the same.

Get it done professionally. I can weld but I'd never build a roll cage.

As above and are you planning on racing as you will need to build it to the blue book spec.
