Hi every one,

Been a member on here for ages, looking back at my old posts from about 3years ago when I bought my first type R and I really didn't have a clue lol!
A lot has changed since and I love my type r's and would say I'm defiantly a true Honda enthusiast!

Any way, mostly I use and post on the ITR-dc5 forum. So I'm going to attempt to copy and paste my build thread from there

Hi all, been on here a while now so thought it's about time to start one of these!
Apologies if it's not the best, never done one before lol.

I enjoy reading all the others out there, so I hope you enjoy mine just as much

I previously had a ep3 which I loved, and of course when it came to upgrade time it had to be a DC5, I bought the car of rob who is on here.
So to start a few pics of my old car..

I put the car completely back to standard when I sold it. Sold the bits that wouldn't fit on the 5 and kept the rest for later

So the car it's self CW with red recaros and c-pack(the best combo in my eyes)
Came with a few bits already done to it which you may of seen on here already, being;
Rota slipstream wheels
Bilstein b14 coilovers
Hard race rear camber arms
Eibach front camber bolts
Fast road set up by TGM
Ds2500 pads
Braided brake lines
Tegiwa master cylinder stopper
K-tuned shifter box and cables
JDM wind deflectors
Carbon plug cover
Energy suspension engine mount inserts
Skunk 2 magnetic drain bolts
Toad alarm
And finally some facelift clear side repeaters.

Bought the car in October and since then have not even had the time/weather to give it a good polish and get some decent photos!

But here's a few

First things first I always like to give it a good old oil and filter change.

Out with the old ( knew my old K'nex box was a handy save)

And in with the new ( had half a bottle left over from the EP3

Gave the bay a little clean

Some new plugs in it ( just for piece of mind)

These are what I went for

At the same time fitted a few bits of red "bling" I had lying around and a few other bits..

Black Friday was here, so thought it would be rude not to treat it to a new tegiwa exhaust manifold
dd2453421414b3dd408e8e7ebd91aefd.jpg

Comparing it with the old japspeed off my civic I saved with the intention of fitting it to the teg, but ended up selling to a mate

Well what a job it is getting the old one off! Snapped 2 bolts that hold the cat to the mani and had a right job getting the old manifold out! Ended up coming out the top lol. But got there in the end!

Snapped bolts

New manifold on

The next day I decided to try and fit my TDI north 3" cat back. I know the back boxes are different but just wanted to see by how much..
Comparing
d009909d32e6c2c83e4f43249fe033a2.jpg

And yup the back boxes are well different!, so I've just got the centre section fitted for now till I either get the back box altered or a new one!

This week end just gone (13/12/15) I took a trip down the road to see Saint Matt. Who checked and adjusted my valve clearances for me ( I will do most things my self, but not this!)
6673e6dc27668bd8b144ee5f472cf9a5.jpg

And I also bought his teg M off him
3362891b85b6810ff923c3d094969e78.jpg

I must say the drive home was very fun! You just can't beat that sound of the VTEC crossover!!

And so that's it for now. Hoping for a weekend of good weather to give it a good clean and coat of wax. Plans for the near future, get the back box sorted and fitted to the car. Then after Christmas for the RBC and TB. and be on my way for a remap .

Few updates.. Really need to keep on top of this lol

So inbetween Christmas and new year I had a decent bit of time off ( what a distant memory that now is)
And managed to do a few bits to the teg!
When I ordered my exhaust mani I also ordered some rear anti roll bar "D" bush so got to work with that.
New bushes to go on

Old V new, as you can see one of them was well past its sell by date

All done

Now a few of you might have seen about me asking if it was possible to fit ep3 seats in our dc5's the answer is yes with a few simple modifications. And I also fitted a standard shifter box to try help with the second gear crunch.
Soooo, the stripping

Perfect time for a good Hoover out as well!
K-tuned shifter off, oem on

This has helped slightly with the 2nd gear. But I think some box work might be on the cards for the future.
The premier recaros after a good clean next to the dc5's. ( missus kept her self well entertained while I was busy)

Even got some little recliners ;)
d1fe970c5efa279151f7e0b9de18de6d.jpg

These seats are so much easier to get in and out of and don't squash my shoulders as much.
Sold my old skunk2 gear knob as its too cold haha

And went for a d1 spec knob

And finally, not really a mod as such but treated my self to a jet wash, been wanting one for ages so got my self a karcher k2
3b8e336c6af4d90cc7d83c86d240c07d.jpg

It came with a lance and some snow foam which I thought could be good...
ea25763a3be42a5cda283995d48026a0.jpg

But it's not the best, so got my self to the local shop and shine and bought a proper lance and some decent snow foam ( I'm still yet to try this out)

That's it for now folks, thanks for reading :)

Oh btw, my missus got me a awesome Christmas present.. Tickets to goodwood festival of speed this year!! Can't wait

Sooo, these came in the post. I thought the rear end looked plain, same with the sides!

And finally got a new washer bottle cap as mine was cracked.
Should be looking better if I get the chance to put on this weekend.
Can't decide if I want the rear type r badge yet either!

So finally got round to cleaning my throttle body at the weekend, didn't look too bad when taking it apart. But has made a big difference when driving at slow speeds, no more of the jerkiness lol!
Ready for removal.

So, yesterday me and my missus went on a little road trip, first stop Mansfield, only 20 mins away :) to pick up some unblemished condition oem wheel nuts and a set of brand new locking nuts.
a1f8a9fa28aabffcf7d9a99de198e7f8.jpg

Oooooo shiny!
28c11b9f4a1a4de44a84a9960be71c89.jpg

Now you probably know what's coming next...
So back in the car and on a road trip to Bradford to get some oem wheels off another forum member.
The wheels were cheap and are in need of a refurb... Badly! But on the plus have decent tyres. (There only winter wheels and will get sorted in the summer.)
Not so shiny :(

6ea499885d1e37bff9c95e45f19834ed.jpg

There was one wheel with a dust cap on.. Very tight! I tried as best I could to get it off with out breaking it, but failed!
Oooooops
f0e25ffc550628d0cc35322e2dfa3dd9.jpg

This will be getting sorted tomorrow.
Got the spigots off with out them breaking :) (ignore how poor looking the callipers are! It's in the pipe line to get them done.)
5cd2b70276fc7e1ec0ccc2b50148a166.jpg

So for now gave them all a quick wash and put the 2 front ones on..

Hate doing things when it's dark, but I don't have much time spare!, roll on summer!
The car didn't come with any centre caps for the wheels, I tried the oem ones and they fit, result! So now I know what size I need. (63mm ID if any one wants to know)

So I got a new valve sorted shortly after and got the oem wheels on. I must say I do like them.. From a distance .
Ordered some centre caps off eBay now I know the correct size for them, went for theses...

Damn good fit tbh!
Gave the wheels 3-4 coats of wheel wax ready for when they go back on in summer :)

If any ones ever going to fit shifter cables, just take off the exhaust heat shield first. Makes things so much more easier and more accessible!
edcc90573ed40d336d895fdf447de954.jpg

Well what can I say, the difference between these are night and day!! The gear changes are just so silky smooth now and it's doesn't feel like my gear box is fu**ed happy days!
All I can say if your looking to buy these is I hope you like a stiff shifter.
These are just 10months old and both the rubber boots are shot.
Hopefully tegiwa will send me some new ones out. Which I'll just sell on haha.
84914bc2e3fba5551031327f74e860ad.jpg

I've got so much I want to do but just can't find the time at the minute !
That's it for now, and just to say, things are going to start getting very interesting round here soon ;)
Cheeky pic to finish!

Well the amount of things I've got in my garage at the minute is stupid, taking up so much space!
Few more things to arrive and I'll post some pictures up

Right, started doing a few bits and bobs while waiting for a few more things to turn up. So I got some pictures of my lovely little collection I've got going on before it gets fitted.
I was going to go down the NA route originally but having been there done that with my ep3 and all this stuff coming up so cheap... I just couldn't say no

Then crack on with the main install!
Hoping to have it done for Mimms!
Abit ambitions?? Nooooo

So yesterday I made a little start doing things I could while keeping the car drivable.

First thing was to fit the fuel pump,
I got the whole unit ( pump and filter)
But wanted to keep my existing filter as it's less than a year old.

Oh I also forgot to add.. On the journey to collect a lot of the stuff the teg did over 400 miles to a full tank, and the light didn't even come on!

So, I'm trying to take as many photos as I can and update as I go along... I knew there was a lot to do, but Jheeze I didn't realise just how much!

So first things was to get the car pretty high up for ease of accsess to things and ready to do the clutch...When it arrives. And start removing things I don't need.

Had to relocate the washer bottle to the other side, so it's out the way of boost pipes. It only just fits by putting it on the angle..

Relocated the battery to the boot, what a fun job that was...

A lot more room round this area now.

This is the position it's going, just need to find a good way of holding it secure.

Got my hands on a boost solanoid so I can have low/hi boost maps and boost by gear.
So I soldered a oem plug on this.
It will be plugged into the old evap Sensor cable.

Managed to spin the brake booster pipe on the intake manifold round so will have a neater finish when done..

.

Seems as my horrid gear selections was the cables and not the shifter box, I refitted the k-tuned short shifter.

Then tonight I set about wiring up the switch for switchable maps.
Was a bit tricky to find out what cable to use as most of the things on the Internet was showing ep3 ecu's. Luckily the cable I used is in the same place anyway. It's the brake light switch, don't worry, nothing to do with the actual brake lights. It just raises the engine revs slightly when the brake pedal is applied.

Wired this to a switch I fitted earlier

Took a live feed from the cig lighter,

Plugged them both to the switch... Job done! Was more of a fiddly job than difficult.

And that will do for now, I'll up date once I get some more done and pictures taken.
Sorry if the pictures are rubbish, I-phone+ taptalk not wanting to upload them.

Good news, my clutch and 3" back box have been dispatched today. So that should be a fun job for the weekend.

Thanks. :)
