There are a lot of variables... first... what tires are you on? Street tires? good sticky street tires? even then the hard sidewall doesnt help a FF in drag. Also, you need to drive the car... revving 1st to 7k doesnt do it, you need to feel when the car is spinning and when its doing a 'pulling' spin (which is good). If you launch and are spinning and shift 1st at 7k I guarantee you have been short shifting the car. Don't be scared to hit the limiter especially if the car is spinning, but avoid the limiter by feathering the throttle. Also, are you pre-loading the car for the launch? It makes a big difference.
