Doesn't sound good....

right guys, ive just had my car driven by my mates cousin and he straight away when driving it and hearing it said "CLUTCH BEARING HAS GONE" if its not fixed ASAP then it COULD cause problems

he also says i can go to honda to see if i can get it fixed under warrenty but that would all depend of the guy who fixes and road tests it. as i am not the 1st or 2nd owner of the car, i have no idea if the clutch would have been abused, if they find it has been abused they the world would be their oyster and they could charge me stupid amounts of MONEY!!! how much i dont know...

any suggestions and if they know, how much would it be if worst case senario

Hi there, I went to see my good friend in his garage and he said similar diagnosis, but was reliably informed that it would not have any detrimental effect on car and it aint worth changing the clutch for just a noise. He said to me that it was the release bearing. As long as your clutch is not slipping, groaning, smelling etc, you should be ok. Do you have to go through Honda? Can you not supply a clutch yourself for them to fit? (Im just thinking of ways to reduce the cost)
Don

i guess you can supply them the part to fit, but they gonna take you to the dry cleaners on your wallet for labour. im looking at aftermartket clutches which i know ppl in the trade that can get them for about 250-350 uk pounds for a stage 1 sports clutch which would be slightly better than a standard clutch.

Hi DONKEY just had my car looked at by a local honda tuning specialist garage and he come down to it being a gearbox bearing being worn, he only had a customer that had a worser sounding one a couple of days ago which they happily sorted out for him (its a common problem on EP3's), if its not changed it will get worse and will F up ur gearbox.

parts- 150
labour- 250

but thats my car,and im gonna sort it...i'd get your car throughly checked out to see if its the same thing cause ur symptoms sound the same.

oh and its not the clutch cause its not even being used...

Ahh perfect another one to add to the pile guys! Noticed mine doing this last Monday at exactly the same RPM's. Booked in to my local Honda on Wednesday, so I'll see what they come up with. I have noticed lately that my clutch feels a little like it's slipping as well. I'm the first owner of the car and it's only got 17k miles on it, if worst comes to the worst and it needed a new clutch, i would be covered under warranty right?
