DOT 5 Brake Fluid

Dot 5 fluids IIRC are silicon based fluids and can damage some materials within brake systems.

Go for a DOT 4 fluid if you want something uprated, something like Motul RBF600 would be spot on:)
 
I don't understand why they don't recommend a 5.1 which is non-silicone.

I can only presume its due to its performance at low temperatures.

I will be doing my brakes next weekend and uprating the fluid at the same time do you think I should get 500ml or 1 litre in the Motul RBF600?
 
I'd get a couple of bottles to make sure there is enough to bleed through the system Lottie:)
 
DOT5 fluids munch away on the seals in the braking system, hence to run DOT5 you need special hoses and o rings.
