Engine management light on lumpy start up?

hi guys i could really do with some help if possible, on the first start up of the day my civic type r starts but its a really really lumpy idle for about 30 seconds then seems to fix its self.

It drives fine but the engine managment light stays on i get no loss in performance or trouble with vtec, so i took it to my local garage they got two codes 711 & 731 and it says miss fire on cylinders one and three.

Now check this out, after a short journey but enought to get it warm i turn it off then about 5mins later it starts fine AND clears the light ??? what could this be? any ideas?

I've had a similer problem. I haven't had any start up issues but I've had an on going misfire problem. I had a full servise done at TGM including new spark plugs and Tom said he'd checked injectors for signs of dirt. After I had this done I left it with him for two weeks so he could drive it around and see if it came back and it hasn't so fingers crossed it's sorted.

So I guess the question is, what mileage has your done, when was it last servised and how old are the sparks? It could also be a valve clearence issue, have you had that done?

Hope this helps.

Best thing to do would be to take yours to a speacialist like TGM or TDI north they'll be able to sort it.

Other things that Tom said it could be was injectors, coil packs or at worst the start of an ECU failur.

yeah i changed the spark plugs today and it seams fine but time will tell if it comes back ill look into cleaning the injectors.
thanks for your reply it has helped alot

I had this problem to I found out it was the cold start temp sensor, it was messing up the fuel and air mixture on cold starts and thats made it idle lumpy.
