EP3 DC mani & cat back help pls

Bit of help required for my brother in law.

He has a rather tasty EP3 that he is in the process of making even nicer.

He ordered a DC cutback and manifold from a fairly large supplier in the UK that was delivered to him.

Fitting the catback system it lined up and fixed to the standard manifold just fine but when he put the DC mani on the two won't line up and the bolt holes are about 10mm out with each other.

He spoke to the supplier who told him they are usually fine.

Chatting to me he mentioned that on the catback box it specifically says "UK spec" but on the manifold box it says RSX Acura Type S.

Now I don't know the ins and outs, but is that right? He cannot get them to fit, and the only advice he was given was to either drill the right holes or choose another system. He did mention to the company that it says RSX Acura on the box but they maintain that this is how they all are.

He's getting the hump a bit now. He did choose to change to a full Mugen Twin Loop instead but that was nearly three months ago and they still haven't got it in for him even though he has paid.

Surprising as they are a well known UK specialist and I hadn't read too many bad things about them to now.

Anyone any ideas on this?

Cheers

i had my DC manifold fitted to my DC cat back at APB and they did it quite quick so no problems with mine as far as i know

If the DC cat back system is designed for the UK car then the connecting B pipe section will be designed to fit a UKDM CAT.

Im not sure but if the USDM Acura Header may be based on a JDM part, if it is, the holes wont match up, just like a Spoon B pipe, but the opposite way round, if you get me.

No problem, as its a very common thing just to enlarge the holes so that it fits, (make them a oval shape as it were) this is always done when connecting a Spoon B pipe to a UKDM CAT. Perhaps its always done when anything JDM is fitted to a UKDM CAT, it wouldnt surprise me.

It will suck for him having to get his new system's holes enlarged though, I can understand that and its poor show from the supplier for not advising this IMO.

I had a DC Sports system on my EP3, for about a week, which was attached to my Spoon 2-1 decat, the holes for this were already drilled larger.

Oh, and just in case he hasnt, he should seriously think about uprating his front ARB to a JDM one as it has a kink in it to allow for the larger header and then wont knock on the front ARB.

Manufacturers also advise to upgrade engine mounts to reduce this happening, as you dont want it to knock and maybe crack.

He may already have done this, but just in case ;) .

Thank you suity.

Thing is, this guy - the company, are very well known in EP3 circles and I'm surprised he hasn't sorted it or made it easier to get around this. Especially considering the customer has a pretty much open wallet in terms of what he wants to do with the car. The service with the change to the Mugen system was very very poor and it was only after Rich called him and explained what would happen if he were taken for a fool quite clearly that the fellow actually gave him any kind of service.

I'll let him know about the oval holes etc and see if he can have a chat with the guy.
