EP3 EP3 Rear Number Plate Light Change Problem

Messages

Hey guys, got a bit of a weird problem and I don't know if anyone has had this issue before

I have already read the manual and these threads:
https://type-r-owners.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?81553-Changing-rear-number-plate-bulb
https://type-r-owners.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?55204-how-do-i-change-my-rear-number-plate-light-bulbs
https://type-r-owners.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?87769-Replacing-rear-reg-plate-bulbs

Watched this video:

I managed to pop one of the bulbs just as the manual and those threads suggested, however I can't put it back in as the connector wire is too short. I expected the wire to be longer just like in the video. Should I pop both bulbs out for it work? If not then, are there any other ways to go about putting the bulb back in besides what the manual says?

This photo shows how far the connector goes. It doesn't even get past the hole. It's literally impossible to fit both my hand the bulb at the same time.

Thanks guys

That does look to be quite short a length compared to mine. The wires just have enough room to stretch out to get the plug out of the hole on mine.

Wouldn't hurt to pop the other one out and see if it gives you some slack tbh. If it doesn't then i would be trying to get a hold of the plug with a pair of pliers (needlenose if possible) so you have room with your other hand to insert the plug.

This was the case in mine too for some reason, the wires for rear windscreen heating were a tad too short too so i ended up cutting all of them up and extending them by a few inch or so. Now they have enough slack.

If you do end up doing the above, make sure you use a decent amount of heatshrink and isolation tape :)

Yeah, I pulled out the other one and they're both short. It looks like I'm gonna have to find another way to put them back on. In the meantime, I'm gonna give the bulb covers a good clean :)

Yeah I might just do this so that it'll be easier for me to change later down the road if I need to. Also, does this mean I need to open up the inside boot lid trim pieces to access all the wiring?

Cheers for the reply guys
