Very late reply but we found the problem to be the shift cable itself had seized, probably dried out but it's not serviceable so we bought another pair of cables second hand.

Last track day at Cadwell again in November we managed to give ourselves a bit more TLC to do.

Drivers side oil filled engine mount split, standard air intake pipe has split and we've cooked the rear discs.
