Extreme Brake Judder Integra DC2

Messages

Hello Chaps,

After wanting a DC2 integra ever since I first played Gran Turismo, I finally took the plunge and am now the owner of a black UK car.

The car is mostly good, but one of the main concerns I have with it is the brake judder. Initially I thought that the problem could be solved by fitting new discs and pads, however I bought and fitted some today and it has not solved the problem. The problem is quite bad, especially when braking at high speeds, so I am really keen to get this sorted out!

So, if any of you guys and girls have any experience of this issue, or any advice I will be very grateful.

Alex

I suggest you get this checked out ASAP at a reputable tuner could be a number of things.

Don't mess about when it comes to brakes.

Thanks for the replies guys.

The judder comes from the front brakes (i think mainly the passenger side one) when ever the brakes are applied. I took off the wheels and rotated the disc by hand and it seems to catch at certain points. This is to say that the torque required by my hand turning the disc is not constant. Having changed to new discs and pads it is still the same.... which is leading me to think that the face of the hub that the disc locates against is not flat, or that the caliper cannot 'float' properly on its carrier.

Any thoughts from you guys on this matter would be brilliant. Or even more to the point the name of a reputable specialist around the midlands would be great.

Thanks again,

Alex

Does the vibration come through the pedal, or wheel or just general feel of the car? Are the pistons moving freely within the caliper?

Hi MilanoChris, thanks for your reply.

The vibration does come through the pedal, but you can also feel it through the steering wheel. When I had the caliper off the piston looked okay, I didn't try to move it though, as I didnt have to hand a tool to push the piston back. Hopefully this weekend I will get a chance to have a look again.

Pistons use to allways stick on mine but got new pistons and seal kit its been fine ever since. could be other things aswell though.

Cheers for the suggestions guys. I'll take another more in depth look at the caliper assembly when i get a chance. Howie, where did you get a new seal and piston set?
