Fk8 6th Year Service

Afternoon,

Looking for some advice.

Bought an 18 plate Fk8 (registered March 2018) with 19700 miles in July of last year from a Honda main dealer. The car was serviced by them (oil change, brake fluid etc.) before being delivered to me.

I'm now at the point a year has elapsed (mileage currently at 21500 miles) so looking to get the car serviced. I've been advised by the same Honda dealer that the recommendation from Honda is that at 6 years it has it's 'biggest' service which involves transmission fluid change, valve clearances, spark plug change on top of the usual oil change and brake fluid change which is coming in at over a grand. When I questioned whether it actually needed this given the mileage I was given the option of the Honda 12+ at £350 'and the choice is yours' which one you go with. The car has been serviced to date under the variable servicing plan (they annoyingly didn't reset the system to align with the last service so it flagged up requiring an oil and filter change, chassis inspection, dust and pollen filter change and brake fluid change in March of this year).

From reading on the forum it would seem to make sense to have the valve clearances done as looking at the schedule this has never been done to date? My question is whether the transmission fluid change and spark plug change are necessary given the low mileage? If a brake fluid change is on 3 years surely that doesn't need doing this time around either?

Thanks

David

Mine is a 2018 too with 40k miles and it is going into Honda tomorrow for its annual service. They quoted £265. I didn't realise there was a big service lingering for these, I just went with what the dealer who has serviced the car since new recommended.
