FN2 FN2 ABS & VSA Problems

Messages

Hi Guys,

I'm having issues with my 2007 FN2.

Basically if I go above say 40MPH I get a ABS and VSA warning light (orange come on)

If I stop the car and turn the engine off and back on and then set off driving it'll go off until I exceed around 40MPH then it comes back on.

I've had the error code checked and it comes up as ABS wheel sensor - but I've had all 4 replaced.

Anyone else come across this issue before?

Thanks

David

Could be the abs controller unit. I was going to say an abs sensor but read on and you've had them all replaced.

Is that the ABS ECU or Modulator??

I was talking to a mechanic (not a Honda specialist - just a general mechanic) and he was saying the wheel bearings? Something about them being magnetic and thats what the ABS sensor reads off? But I wasn't sure if that was the case on the FN2.

Yes the wheel bearings are where the speed readings are actually taken from.

I'm sure I've read the ECU and modulator are the same unit, near the rear axle. Internet mechanics here though, couldn't tell you for certain.

Don't know what to suggest. Modulator is probably the easiest and cheapest to replace if you can get a second hand unit on eBay.

Wheel bearings would be guessing at which one to replace unless one is obviously grumbling and in a bad state.

Vsa/Abs/control unit is all 1 unit & is located behind the front bumber
If u tell me the p codes i can tell you where the problem lies
9 times out of 10 its the control unit at fault
Have a google search for BBA Reman they can recon your faulty unit

Cheers jizzy, I thought I'd read it was one unit but my location was off. :smt023

No worrys
Just had another think back to 2008/9/10 and there was a recall/Bulletin for the fn2 rubbing through the wireing harness under the top engine mount
Just make sure the recall/Bulletin has been done & check the loom

Thanks, I'll check my service receipts for details on exactly what the error codes were.

I actually bought a replacement ABS Control unit from eBay a few months back to try but my mechanic is convinced it wont make a difference and recons its a difficult job. He seems to think replacing the bearings is easier.

I've had a new wiring loom the same time as the Clockwise engine so hopefully the loom is OK but thanks I'll check it out.

Replacing the abs control unit is easyer than replacing all the wheel bearings
We realy ned the p codes before you go replacing parts

Also when you say new wireing loom & clockwise engine how come ??
He had some issues with his previous engine so bought a 260 brake spec one that came from a highly spec'd car that was going back to standard.

Ok
Has this problem only just started or has it been like this since you fitted the engine & loom ?

Having trouble finding the codes going to call Honda tomorrow and ask if they have record of them from when my car was in.

Long story with the engine / wiring loom - short version I powder coated my rocker cover - sand from the blasting process was left in the cover and made it way into the engine and destroyed it! I knew someone who was selling an engine with a Clockwise head so I bought that, the wiring look was done as Grinspeed thought my old one may have been damaged at some point (obviously not related to the sand in the engine!)

Ok

It started the same time the engine and loom was fitted. Grinspeed actually replaced one ABS Sensor and then my car was put on a trailer and sent back to me. Once I got it home the ABS and VSA lights all came on and have been on since.

Since getting it back I've replaced another 2 ABS wheel sensors and had it in with my local Honda Dealer who's didn't offer any help.

It was and it looked OK, didn't appear to have any damage.

I'm sure my mechanic has checked all the connections to the likes of the ABS sensors and ABS modulator

Ok try & get the p codes that were stored in the memory
Ask your mechanic to check the pins where the multi-plug goes into the abs/vsa control unit

So codes, I'm guessing you have to clear them once the issue has been resolved like you would with EML codes stored on the ECU? Tried doing the ECU reset at Honda?
