Help Big problems!!!! PLEASE HELP

Which is what I was saying. If battery voltage is only at 12.8v with the engine running then the alternator isn't charging properly

I know yer and I was heading in that direction if you get me. Just got are wires crossed.

Once the engine is started the battery is redundant. It is only there to be charged up. All of the electrical circuits will be powered by the alternator.

Only if alternator is working ?

No problem.

It is worth physically checking the wires on the alternator and all fuses as the alternator on the EP3 is normally very reliable.

I should also add I drove the car all day yesterday and all of last night without any spluttering issues. Puzzling

I dont quite understand what you mean, sorry

Connect a jump lead to earth (-ve) on the battery and the other end to something metal like the slam panel. If the symptoms go away, you have a bad earth.

Update

Went on a trip to Honda earlier for a diagnosis (which was pointless because the technicians had gone home)

Went to leave and the car wouldnt start, with a jump start it just about started.

The car was juddering worse than ever all the way home and eventually I had no throttle response for about 30 seconds and then it cut out and wouldnt start.

It couldnt be bump started and so it was recovered.

The mechanic thinks it is the alternator, it isnt charging the battery and basically the kid who sold it to me must of charged the battery fully and its slowly just run out.

Its been looked at tomorrow.

Does this seam like a realistic diagnosis?

From what i can remember your not ment to jump start a CTR as its chain driven and could end it jumping a tooth or more. I could be wrong. I just remember reading it somewhere.

Sounds like some sort of fuse or alternator issue

The best thing to do would be to take it to your local specialist i.e TGM, TDI, CPL, etc

sounds like the alternator, i had the same problem on my old golf gti, the alternator fuse had corroded causing a loose connection in the fuse box which cause my car to go into limp mode, basically revs went mental, pressing the gas did nothing, i just had to steer into the hard shoulder , stop the car then = battery dead.

i had to be jump started and recovered , it was easily fixed by replacing the fuse box so i had good solid connections again.

could be worth checking ?

Hmm well see what happens tomorrow, and when i say jump start i was referring to jumping the battery not pushing and dropping the clutch etc.

Cheers
