High pitch squeal/screech

Hi Guys,

I have a 2004 54 EP3 with 41K and FSH. As the title suggests there is a high pitch squeal/screech at around 2.5K-4K RPM.

The car idles fine with no noise. The noise happens under acceleration or with no load on the engine (reving at stand still). All the auxillary belt pulleys/tensioner have been checked and are fine.

The car has been on a diagonistic machine and has no fault codes etc.

I would appreciate any help or advice you may be able to give.

It'll be the drive-shaft heatshield, common problem, have a search around, plenty of topics on it already. :)

Thanks for the advice, it turned out to be the drive shaft heat shield as you said. All is now ok after a clean & grease.
