How can you tell if you have the stock ECU?

I have just purchased my second EP3, It is a one owner with 69K.

It feels quicker than my old EP3 its same year, but this one has a different air filter a stainless steel cat back exhaust.

I wondered if it has a Kpro or K100 fitted, Is there a way of telling if the ECU is standard or not?

Would there be a code or any markings visible on the ECU to give me this information?

Any help would be appreciated.

Remove it and open it up. If it has hondata written somewhere in there then it isn't standard.

Another way of telling is that you will be able to rev car to redline when in nutral and the vtec point should be lower.

If it's a Kpro you can definitely have a rudimentary launch control set, I'm not 100% on whether the K100 supports this.

So you might not be able to rev it to the red line in neutral. If it's been mapped correctly though, the VTEC point should be lower than stock.

If kpro, open glovebox, look at ecu, if USB port = kpro. Other than that it's a case of calling Paul @ TDi North and asking if he has ever worked on the car. he loves it if you have almost no information about the car.

I've done the V-tech Test and It kicks in about 5800rpm. I'm pretty sure it is the the standard Ecu. But in the summer I intend to get a FRSU done at a honda specialist and I will get them to double check. I'm not confident enough at the moment to start poking around with the ECU so I'll leave it to the Pro's.
