insurance company won't insure me this year!! help

As for your sticky, i once again say who the hell would know!!! If the driver got pulled or had an accident the insurance company are not gonna say " oh we know you always use the car, we are not paying out". Simple fact is they wouldn't know. Stop being a pussy.

Inclined not to agree. If you write off your 10k car on it's own, they will certainly spend a loss adjuster's wages for two weeks looking into anything and everything that will allow them to get out of paying.

Nevermind if you hit another car or a police investigation is involved.

Just not worth it in my opinion...

Just to complicate matters further... For reasons to do with residents' parking permits where we used to live I am the registered owner of the TDI and my girlfriend is the registered owner of the S4 (as she was of the R32). We are the sole named driver on each other's policy. Simple enough *but* I am the main driver of the S4 and she is the main driver of the TDI and we are listed as such on the insurance documentation. So it is possible (and entirely legal; I checked this thoroughly with the insurance company) to be the main driver of a vehicle when you're only the named driver on the policy. You must inform the insurance company that this is the arrangement though.

FACT.

This is the same with my EP3. I am the main driver insured to drive the car - but the car is not in my name.

It's funny I got pulled once - for no reason; infact I felt slightily victimised... Any how, I got pulled and proceeded to produce my details and go through the rigmarole one does in the situation; the fuzz tried to come on me, insinuating that I was 'fronting' - when I broke it down for them they backed off.

could register the car to him and his address and say it is kept there...?

So i was right.

No, you were wrong.

As I have highlighted in the first post above, you have suggested that he "Just Says" that he lives at the cheaper address. That is fraudulent.

Beardo and Riter have communicated with their respective insurers and made solid declarations of their individual circumstances - thus all insurance cover has been validated and there is an obvious lack of fraudulent activity.

It only takes one very small falsehood or discrepancy within an insurance contract to make that contract null and void.

no i said register it in his uncles name, insure it through his uncle but have himself as a named driver. As a named driver he can be made the main driver.

But you are still telling porkies about the regular overnight location of the car!!!!!!

In post #7 of this thread you said

Can you really not see the fault here?

oh ok... yea i can. Im not ignorant to it. I just dont believe it would be a problem. Its like saying if something happened to the car outside his house he wouldnt be insured. He would. Just as if i would if someone crashed into my car and it was parked round my mates house for the night. Or if i left it at a train station etc.

OK, now we are getting somewhere. 8)

In the event of an insurance claim which could cost the company a considerable amount of money, do you not think that an insurance investigator would find it really hard to pinpoint the regular location of the insured vehicle?

Previous insurance history is accessed by all companies - it is an easy trace and chase for those in the business.

Insurance cover is only properly covered if you declare and confirm all of the details correctly.

I did some quotes on-line, 100% accurate but then altered these 2 points:

1) me being the main driver but adding my mum and dad as 'named' drivers bought the price down a lot

2) and if i said that i use another car on a regular basis it knocked a few hundred pounds off

now the thing is my parents do 'sometimes' borrow my car and I 'sometimes' drive theirs, so could I have used these 2 points above or would it still be risky??

I got it insured all in my name and accurate as possible in the end :D via admiral at just over 2k  lol! i love my car and just cant risk anything so i was happy to pay the premium. but is it likely next year will be the same???

Sounds like you're in a similar situation to me. Admiral; adding my parents to the quote. I didn't announce that I use another car regularly, although that is in fact true! I regularly drive mum's mini

Come February, I'll have to remember that :)

I know its earlier but i was wondering is my insurance likely to still be this high on next years renewal??

so Esure said they cant insure me this year due to their underwriting policy changing, which is just another way of them saying because I had a crash they wont insure me! but what is the chance that they will on my next renewal??

are all companies the same or do they have a cooling period or certain amount of time/years etc before can insure with them again?

Don't give up hope - I'm 19 and driving a final edition CG Type R. If it's modded - direct line is a nono. Try all the comparison websites - confused, comparethemarket, gocompare etc. On another thread, there is a company called "Chris Knott" posting on this website, might be worth giving them a call? It took me 3 weeks of phoning absolutely non-stop to finally get an insurance company to quote me. If you are a young driver, like me, then everyone is having problems at the minute due to a lot of companies specialising in that market going bust. Good luck :(.

Are you sure it's because of you having a crash? I used to be with Quinn, but then they couldn't re-quote me because they changed to only insure kids on a provisional license. I would imagine it would go down a fair bit, I think the key to cheap insurance is to keep switching companies. I've been with 3 different companies so far. Check their website, may say on there.

i only phoned around for a few days, next time i wont leave it so late i guess lol! but i did try all the companies you listed mate but no luck!!
damn only 19 with a ctr! how much is your insurance?
i only got the ctr when i was 25, before that insurance was way to high!!

yeah ive heard a few stories from friends and family were after a crash they wouldn't renew, so its definitely something happening amongst insurance companies!

Ughh, everything seems to be last-minute with me too, getting my insurance was as well. It was horrible - sat on the drive for 2 weeks before I could finally drive it. I got it on a fleet, so isn't so bad and get to drive my Dad's range rover sport V8 fully comp ;). Not that I'd not rather drive my type R. If it wasn't on a fleet, I'd be looking at over 2.4k a year THIRD PARTY. Noone would touch me fully comp. If I was male, would have been no chance.

Apparently Direct Line graciously provide drivers under 21/25 with automatic 50% fault if they're involved in an accident!

Word of mouth from the MR2 OC... But if it's true that's a nightmare.

lol ive been with direct line for 9yrs now and its definatly time for a change as i just got my renewal quote and its £1350 fully comp with £350 excess and 8yrs NCB and im 28. It was £1000 last year when i first got my CTR which i thought was an average price lol
