Got the Dastek ECU fitted and mapped yesterday at Wallace Performance in Aberdeen
Went quite well, although on the way down the exhaust started blowing big time.. And when i got there they checked it and it had snapped at the flange to the backbox.. Their welder was in hospital so i was up sh*t creek!! But we phoned about and Wallace Performance managed to get hold of a stainless welder, and he arrived to weld a new flange on the exhaust, top man!! Saved the day, i thought i was going to have to abort and go home yet again without getting it done. Here he is welding it up
Then the car disappeared into the back for the ECU fitting and mapping
Power before the Dastek was:
192.1 bhp at the wheels
223.7 bhp at the fly
148.5 lb/ft of torque
That is with an Apexi catback exhaust and a HKS induction kit
Power after ECU and mapping was:
201.3bhp at the wheels
231.5bhp at the fly
152.7 lb/ft of torque
The peak figures are decent but the biggest gains are lower down
Torque previously at 3000 RPM was around 113 lb/ft.. after at 3000 RPM is approx 133 lb/ft so 20 lb/ft moreThe graph below, for any n00bs, on the left side the top red line is the torque after mapping, the blue line below that is the torque before mapping.. Then the other 2 lines that go diagonal, again the red is after mapping and the blue is before...every point of the rev range shows a gain over what it was. And considering the car is meant to run on 97 RON but i got it mapped for 95 RON as it's all i can get locally, the gains are good. The guy who did the mapping is sh*t hot, sound bloke
And a pic of the car on the dyno
We weren't allowed into the dyno for most of it but he let us in for the last run, they aren't allowed taking people in now unless it's a rolling road day with both doors open
We watched the car on the TV screen from inside the garage but on the other side of the steel doors...sounded mental even through the doors
Then he whipped the doors open and took us in for a final run, here's a video of it -
