ITG Maxogen Filter Pipe Confusion

Hi All,

I have got an ITG Maxogen Induction Kit on my Honda Civic Type R 2002 and there is a thin pipe connected to the air flow pipe at the front of the filter. Can anybody tell me what this pipe is for as it appears that it has been disconnected from the engine and there is no obvious way that reconnects? The thicker pipe that is further up the pipe nearer the filter is connected both ends (to the air flow and the engine) - it is just the thinner pipe?
