Hey guys.
With our trip to The Nurburgring 2 weeks away.
I've found a crack on the inlet manifold!!
Luckily I was taking the car to see an intercooler specailist, (which he said he could do) And I noticed a fracture, Limped home checked it and it didi look worst still Sprayed at little water onto it and it sucked straight in!!
I guess that I should be thankfull It was spotted before any serious
damage.
It looks as though it has cracked around the part that looks to have being
linished to make it fit.

Potential weak spot?????????
Although it doe's look to have been Linished in that area,
normal process would be to Linish the adjacent Bracket.

Like Grayham says CHECK YOURS NOW!!!!.

No m8, just the smaller inlet mani that comes with it, at least afaik.....

Just been to have a quick look :) Its the seperate inlet bit yer, is not actually a part of the charger.

I would imagine from that damage / crack that that may be able to be welded and fixed like that that should fix it

How did you get on with the Intercooler thing by the way :)

Sev, said that he'd be able to do an intercooler no prop.

It just depends on how effective it would be cooling the pre-charged air?
fitting a matrix between the charger and inlet is prob not a good idea :|

He is going to rig up something temp, to see the changes on mine before
he go's all the way with a bespoke system.

Some of his work is awesome, a true perfectionist.

On the inlet.. it can be welded but has to come off to be done :x

The latest is, The car is going in on Thursday to the guy who is
looking at the intercooling, he is going to repair the manifold for me.
He's quoted me a max of £200 which I think is reasonable.

At the same time, while its off he can have a good look at where/how
to cool the charger, it might come to nothing but while its off :|

Shouldn't the inlet mani be covered by the Jackson Racing warranty?

Remember that this unit was purchased second hand, and im sure was out of warrenty before it was even sold.

Im sure on a new unit yer it would be covered by warrenty but this unit was a second hand unit just to clear this up

Hope its all sorted m8, and hopefully some good news about the cooler :)

Dropped My car off today to be sorted manifold is
coming off and being repaired.

I'll keep you posted.

Well.
Sev has fixed my car :D
And has Fadbricated an ally bracket to help hold the weight of
the charger.
Going to pick it up in an hour, and will post pics later.

He is also going to fabricated some bespoke strut braces for us
if we like :D

Oh he charged me £220 for taking off JRSC repairing it and re-fitting Inc new ally bracket too :D

Top LAD!!

Well I have being keeping an eye on my manifold and nave noticed today
that the crack has re-appeared..

So Im going to have to get a new manifold this time, i've aralditeded it for the time being.

So, please, other owners check yours for hairline fractures like mine.

The bolts holding the charger to the head have snapped on mine (3 of them) didn't notice till recently (been going to hospital everyday to see gf - 100 round trip), trouble is I noticed it was idling fast and hunting occasionally. I drove it carefully like this for 3 days but the damage is done - the little ends are rattling, b0llox.

didn't G have the same problem with his ?

Yeah I think so and seize2.

Apparentely caused by fouling either side, not the bolts being of poor quality.

Mine hasnt suffered from the bolts snapping

Don't mean to sound daft but what do you mean by "fouling either side" ??, mine has snapped the heads off 3 bolts on the right hand side of the charger.

If the inlet manifold touches anything to the side, it makes the bolts snap over time. The solution is to file the inlet manifold or the bits to the side which touch it. Its easier to explain in person or with a picture. The bottom line is the inlet manifold must not be touching anything, or the bolts will snap.
